I am from the Burgh but live in Cincy and a proud UC fan.  I think Pickens has a higher ceiling and Pierce has a higher floor.

Guest...Angels Envy is my #2 choice behind the Ol Whistle Pig
They arent ignoring the DL.....they are gonna get one in 3

Yikes, Malik Willis still sitting in the Green Room and might not get picked til the 3rd round. that hurts.
Adam Bittner
9:17
Look, at a certain point, you've just got to conclude that Pickett is regarded far more highly than the others were. With the others being propped up by conventional wisdom that QBs get reached for every year, regardless of whether they're good or not.
Doesn't guarantee Pickett will be good. But almost everyone has passed on everyone else now.

Adam, Rationale for Pickens ahead of Moore?  Gambling on a possible upside?
Adam Bittner
9:17
Seems to be the logic to me.
ATL

Pickens is a very good pick, "off field issues" are a non issue.  He's big, fast and nasty.
Adam Bittner
9:18
Drake Jackson goes to SF at 61.
He's a linebacker.

Indeed Pickett to Pickens sounds fun. Love the draft so far

Malik may transfer to the USFL if he doesn't get selected soon

Aaron Rodgers is texting Malik in the Green Room like dude, even I wouldn't have stayed that long.  Go to the casino

I would NOT be floored if we went back to back WRs this year......
Adam Bittner
9:19
Bryan Cook to KC at No. 62. He's a safety. Where have you gone, Honey Badger?
Biff
9:19
The Steelers WR coach put Pickens through his drills during his Pro Day, so it sounds like they feel pretty comfortable with what they're getting with him.
Rude Rob
9:20
Why do I have to conclude that?
Adam Bittner
9:20
I'd say a QB could be picked 10 slots or so above what he's worth. 40+? Nah.
9:21
The Steelers would be a lot worse than they are if their player evaluation was that far off.

Only 1 QB picked in first 2 rounds has to be some kinda record, right?
Adam Bittner
9:21
I believe I saw earlier that what we're watching has never happened. At least in the modern era.

Hold it Adam. The only team we know for sure that had Pickett highly regarded was the Steelers. There is no indication whatsoever that anyone else had him as a first rounder. Or even a second rounder.
Adam Bittner
9:22
No guarantee. But I think it was fairly likely.
Dave
9:22
Yes Raimann OL and Travis Jones DL should be our targets if they can last till the 84th pick.  Highly unlike if the Steelers sit still, so maybe a possible trade to move up.

Weekly bourbon chats?  "Pay the man!"  =)

Also Nakobe Dean is one to consider for ILB as well

With the current mindset of drafting a player and playing him, that might be why Pickett was drafted and the others wait. Pickett is 'NFL ready,' while Willis will have to develop. Otherwise, it makes no sense. But no point in second guessing
Adam Bittner
9:24
This is my theory, too. Too much pressure on front offices to wait a year or more on a QB to develop. Pickett and Willis could be comparable talents. But if it takes Willis years to get to where Pickett is now, then you can understand his fall through that lens.
Biff
9:24
I always felt that Pickett was the most sound of the QB class and the others all felt like guys whose value was being propped up by potential. It makes sense that Pickett was the first one taken. Plus, Steelers get the 5th year option with him in the 1st Round. That being said, I still expected these other guys to start to go in Round 2.

It appears to me they could have had Pickett at 52. Absolutely no reason to think otherwise.

Looks like the Media was the driving force behind the QB class this year. Not the people that know football.
