This guy was a stalwart with the Gwinnett Stripers
NG

Braves gave Yuli some run in AAA, but even they released him despite their injury carnage
Ben Clemens

broadcast tells me he brings them veteran experience
couldn't they just record what Salvy says, and then play it to the half of the team that's out of Salvy's earshot?

This Royals lineup is brutal lol

I had the Royals for two outfield spots and DH in my Weakest Spots Among Remaining AL Contenders piece (https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-weakest-positions-on-the-remaining-al-...) and could have easily chosen them for the 3rd outfield spot and either 2B or 3B except that I had more to say about the alternatives.

I kept giggling when I was writing up the preview for this one. Like wow HE is still in baseball? over and over
Ben Clemens

Or just tell him to talk loud

How early is too early to make your platoon-based pinch-hitting moves? Tigers bringing in Keith in the 5th feels too soon if you don't want him facing a lefty.
Ben Clemens
4:29
There's no obvious rule of thumb. The better the guy you're replacing is, the later you want to wait. The better the guy coming in is overall, the earlier you want him in. I think Keith is good enough that it's reasonable to bring him in early

Tigers radio guys think Skubal's done.

Sounds like Skubal done...down in clubhouse and Brieske warming up. Maybe Hinch would have went longer if Slubal didn't tweak something last inning?

Not a playoff team, but with respect to bad lineups: Did anyone happen to pull up the box score of white sox games near the end the season and just marvel at the OPS's

We recorded an Effectively Wild yday where a bunch of us gave White Sox fun facts, and then James Fegan scored them using White Sox OPS's
Davy Andrews

I'm psyched to listen to that. What a fun idea.
Ben Clemens
4:30
I did pretty well and all of my scores were between .640 and .660

I am now greatly looking forward to reaching that EW episode

I want to do a study on the everyone in a given postseason who was said to give a team "veteran experience" and see how bad they were. Since I generally feel this is quipped mostly when someone is older and past their athletic prime
Davy Andrews
4:31
I feel confident that they say it about players who are still good too. It's just an easy thing to say.
And right on cue, Tommy Pham makes a sliding catch in right field.

There’s definitely comedy in the White Sox going 5/6 with 120 losses
Davy Andrews

This is an excellent point. I would love to see a feature article about it.

well, the universe placing the goddamn Angels in their path was quite the setup.

Hi Dan, are you confident or nervous right now?
AvatarDan Szymborski

Me or above Dan?

I'm too jaded at this point to have genuine emotions.
