Being on the outside circle made me realize how much I can do many things at once. It also was a lot better as just typing and seeing what other people think instead of being on the spot.

I think that he would work for everyone to support equality.

My thoughts of being on the outside of the circle are not to bad I like being on the outside of the circle.

If he was still here, I don't think much will change. When he got assassinated it showed the true colors of people and who they direct violence against. Though not sure if there would be a day but that nation will still be impacted many others have.

If He didn't say his speech, then America wouldn't get any better, besides, the Negro would not be free

Me too Raf

I agree with Nathalya because if he didn't say his speech we probably still would have a lot more segregation then we do now.

I think I might have had a hard time supporting him because I would be afraid he would die. But I think I would also be proud.

I think his speech would still have an impact, but I don't think it would've been as impactful if he didn't get assassinated. When he died it made people more upset with the injustice and it showed how bad things were getting, it empowered people to share what he did and spread the civil rights movement more than if he would've not been killed.

Good question Maddie?  Has anything changed since then?

I would feel glad that i married someone who is willing to take a stand even with their own life on the line, but i would also be sad to see them go

I would have told him if your going to say your speech in front of 100s of people just be carful out there and I would have told him to come straight back home.

I think almost none of the southern state have not heard on MLK Jr day
AvatarMichelle Johnson

Perhaps Mostofa
Mostafa
2:17
I think maybe all the southern states celebrate MLK day but I think the reason why some people have never heard of MLK day is because in that state they don't take MLK day as a big enough deal to like have a day off of school or something like that.
AvatarMichelle Johnson
2:17
Good question!! Would Dr. King change anything today?
Rafael
2:16
I don't think it would have been as powerful because not much people liked his speech.
AvatarMichelle Johnson
2:15
If you were MLK's wife--how would you have felt knowing he was going to give the speech and there were 100s of death threats?
2:14
They do not. I have had student from other states that have NEVER heard of MLK Day.
Rafael
2:14
I know who he is and what he did but I don't think all Southern states celebrate him.

AvatarMichelle Johnson
2:14
So would his speech have been as powerful if he had not been assassinated?
2:13
Does everyone know who he is? Do they have MLK  Day in ALL southern states?
I also wonder if COVID and everyone watching quietly at home had an impact...
2:12
I agree Mostofa--to take away a human life over $20 is pretty sickening.
Mostafa
2:11
I think his death was powerful because he died just because a store clerk "suspected" he had used a counterfeit 20 dollar bill so I think people thought this wasn't fair and got mad and wanted to act on it.

He probably saw people causing harm so he decided to make a speech that might make people change the way they feel towards African Americans

I agree Jason

no, i believe thats the exact opposite (Profiling, stereotypes) of what he was trying to accomplish with his speech. That makes it hard to believe that he would think all sotutherners are prejudice
AvatarMichelle Johnson
2:09
Did the use of the metaphors make the speech more powerful?
Excellent point Marissa.
2:08
But why Mostofa? Why was it powerful? Why did so many of ALL types of people pay attention to it?
Mostafa
2:07
there was more protests in support of African Americans after George Floyd's death.
Marissa T
2:07
I agree with Jayvon and Piper, recent days people say we need to stop it, but the people who say that are not doing nothing. But people back then, they did step up with what they had.

Do you think Dr. King felt all southerners were prejudiced?

Absolutely Arthur

The jim crow laws still encouraged racism and segregation till 1965
AvatarMichelle Johnson
2:05
Why was George Flyod's death so powerful in its impact?
Bukola

I agree with Mostafa, too!

Nathalya has a good point.
