Thank you very much that does make sense.

Hello Tapuwa, no you wouldn't participate in Access to Leeds alongside the Gateway Year to Medicine programme. Access to Leeds is incompatible with any courses that contain a foundation year as they already offer a grade reduction based on similar eligibility criteria.  The Gateway Year to Medicine course is administered by the Medicine admissions team so you would just apply to that directly through UCAS.  I hope this makes sense! Thanks, Jo,

Hello, would you need to participate in the Access to Leeds modules in order to apply for the Gateway Year into Medicine?

Hi Suhayb, yes, you would be made eligible for Access to Leeds if you are part of Reach for Excellence - all you will need to do is fill in the form that the RfE team will email to you in September and upload it via our webpage.  You would then receive confirmation of your eligibility from us and go on to participate in the module.  The email will have full instructions but if you do have any concerns or would like any guidance after you've completed it you can email us on accesstoleeds@leeds.ac.uk and we can talk you through it, thanks, Jo.

Hi Suhayb, the Access to Leeds module is designed to ease the transition from school or college to undergraduate level study.  The first part of the module is an introduction to study skills topics such as critical reading and writing skills and is assessed on multiple choice questions.  The second part of the module is usually a short assignment, you would have the opportunity to liaise with a tutor at the university to produce this piece of work which is designed to be at an equivalent level to your year 13 studies.  This year we had to amend the second part of the module and it was based more around live online events and interaction with current undergraduates (this is something we hope to incorporate for all future modules as our current students found it incredibly beneficial).  I would say though, please don't worry, you are supported throughout the module and we do have an incredibly high pass rate!
