Hi Will and thank you for doing this! I submitted an application to the master of ChemBE program in Juanuary. But I didn't recieve any answer on 8th of March, am I on the waiting list or just that my materials were not reviewed yet?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Yixuan, we are still waiting on further decisions to be made by the dept, so you'll get a decision on either March 22 or April 5. That's all I can say at the moment.

Adding to Kim's question: is financial aid available to the MCIT online program and when are the application deadlines
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Guest, Penn Engineering doesn't provide financial aid for any master's programs. You can find some potential sources of aid here: http://www.cis.upenn.edu/prospective-students/graduate/aid.php

Will, I have applied for CGGT program. Could you let me know that whether international students can complete this program in more than one year so that they can intern in companies in summer? I saw it in the website that usually they complete the program in one year.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:18
Meng, it's partially up to you and how many courses you want to take - it requires a minimum of 10 courses completed to earn the degree. Also, internships may not be possible depending on the type of visa you will be using to attend school if you're an international student. Students usually complete the program in 1.5-2 years.

Hi Will! I applied for BE PhD program, and I know that some of the applicants had done their interviews. Unfortunately, I have received neither an interview invitation nor decision letter until now. Does that mean I am rejected already?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:21
Ruo-Jing, if you haven't received a decision that is because one has not yet been made. ALL applicants will receive a decision and we send them out as soon as the dept notifies us.

Hi Will! Thank you for this chat. Are the Bioengineering PhD offers still being sent out? I interviewed during the first weekend and haven't heard anything yet.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:21
Vijay, yes, decisions are still being sent out, as all applicants will receive a decision.

Will, should new grad think about choosing first semester courses at this point (i.e. before receiving email instructions to do so) as some are more popular than others? I can see course options from SCMP's website, but can't find more info on what courses are available for first semester. Or maybe the starting timetable is always fixed? Could you please give me some suggestions? Thanks
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:22
Yu, you'll want to contact your program with these question, as each program handles registration differently. The Program Coordinator for the SCMP program is Ammarah Aftab, and her email is aammarah@seas.upenn.edu.

Hussah, I'm sorry, but the GRE is required to be taken by the application deadline. We don't waive it for applicants. If you haven't taken it at this point, I'm sorry, but your application will be rejected for being incomplete. Our application requirements are listed here: https://gradadm.seas.upenn.edu/how-to-apply/

Hi will, I was admitted by the SE in MS project and I want to know the admission rate of last year and the number of people who started in this program last year, thanks.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Michael, sure. Last year we admitted approx 49% of applicants and we had 45 students start in the fall.

Thank you, Will. I am also wondering whether you have any information about international students getting a job in U.S. during CGGT program?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:27
Meng, we don't break out career prospects for international vs domestic students. This may be something the CGGT program can tell you more about, and you can contact the Program Coordinator, Nick Mancuso, at nmancuso@seas.upenn.edu. You can also find career statistics here: https://www.vpul.upenn.edu/careerservices/surveys.php#GradStudent

AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:28
Hussah, if you've already taken the GRE but didn't report this on your application, please have the official scores sent to UPenn, using code 2888. You can also send us a copy of your official score report to admissions2@seas.upenn.edu.

Hi Will, I was admitted into the MSE program for BE. I was wondering, is it possible to take a class or two at Wharton, just as an elective?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:29
Brendan, it can be possible to register for Wharton classes as electives. It's best to check with your program coordinator to make sure the courses you want to take would count as electives.
