They're mostly asleep but there was some friction when Justinian tried to play with Cassiopeia's hedgehog.

What sort of dog, Ben?
Millville Meteor

Should’ve went with the gold jerseys Oakland...

That's an excellent question. She's a shelter dog, but my wife and I are suckers and so sprung for a DNA test. It came back half golden retriever half pit bull, which seems.... weird?
Most importantly, though, she's a sleepy dog

Having those Baseball Savant zone heatmaps would be an amazing leap forward for regular broadcasts. I hope they consider adding them.

There you go, that breaking ball to lefties is a huge thing for Manaea, I think.

The A's have a top 5 home uni and they wore this garbage. This angered the baseball gods and so lead off homer.

As a fellow dog owner, I can confirm that sleepy dog is best dog when trying to get work done.

Anyone with a stopwatch checking Manaea's pace?

We don't need to get greedy with the regular broadcast. Let's make a compromise. They can leave the advanced stats off the broadcast, but they have to put announcers that both enjoy the game and have a personality.

Now, it's not like he's normally Trachsel or anything, but to my eye he was really working quickly

How do you all feel about the ZiPS projection saying Nats have a better shot than the Twins to advance ?

Dan had some thoughts about yesterday's broadcast, which I half missed but really agree with. National broadcasters of playoff games are rough sometimes.

It's possible I'm too tough. But I'm a chronic nitpicker.

Using Benetti is a great idea, though.
Plenty of the regional play-by-play guys are amazing.

Yesterday made me really wish we would retire the term "professional hitter"
AvatarDan Szymborski

Teams would prefer amateur hitters because they play baseball just for the exposure!
Ben Clemens

And per recent California law, maybe some endorsements!

Is there anything in the rule book that would prevent the Rays from wearing, say...the Rockies purple jerseys? Just to mess with the As.
AvatarDan Szymborski
8:21
I'm not sure of a rule, though I *think* that MLB has final approval of uniforms. I know some of the rules, like you're not allowed to wear anything on a jersey that can be confused with a baseball. Just in case there's an influx of hitters with no depth perception?

Did Semien not get the memo that we're all true outcomes here tonight?
Audrey Stark

Yes, I believe MLB has the final approval over uniforms. They discussed going up the chain when talking about the Cardinals' powder blue Saturday uniforms.

along with professional hitters we learned that Counsell is different with his pitchers because he views them as "out getters" instead of just pitchers
Ben Clemens

He forgot to have some professional out-getters, I guess. Professionalism is important!

My wife is a huge Brewers fan (also from Milwaukee area) so I say it from a place of love.
Honestly, to me this will be a season Brewers fans will have fond memories of, the September run was amazing. It was always probably going to end at some point, though obviously not a fun way to have it happen.

Now that I think of it, did the A's even use the yellow jerseys this year? I'm trying to remember when I last saw them.

That was a very 2019 first inning

My mom is a huge Brewers fan, so last night was a disappointment. But, like a lot of Brew Crew fans, I think she was happily surprised they made it this far at all.

Should WC teams have to use the same roster for the LDS?   Not a fan of what is effectively mini expanded rosters for the WC game.

It's kinda sad that baseball's colors are so boring that with 30 teams, jerseys that are primarily two basic colors (green and yellow) are essentially covered by just two teams.
Audrey Stark
8:26
Right now, I am very much opposed to requiring the same roster. See: Stephen Piscotty. But I like the surprise of figuring out whether a manager feels a bench bat or a bullpen pitcher is more important.

I like this question a lot, but I'm okay with the current system. I like that it increases the amount of high-leverage at-bats that will be taken by the best available players -- it doesn't really mess with pitching too much, just gives more chance to play platoons and such.
