Yeah this distinction is definitely underutilized
Agent Smith
11:13
what's going on in here?
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:13
Nick Anderson crushing the final hopes.
Matt
11:13
If the simulation has become sentient, and able to simulate, that'd be like a Taco Bell inside a KFC...INSIDE A TACO BELL.
Ben Clemens
11:13
Well, we were just talking about Mr. Anderson.
Paul
11:13
True fact: after this game the A's will have lost 15 of their last 16 games in which they could advance in the postseason
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:13
Should've worn the yellow jerseys
Ben Clemens
11:13
It was inevitable you'd eventually show up.
Alex
11:13
This is going to sound far-fetched but is there any chance Melvin ends up being the “surprise firing” of this offseason? He’s really fared poorly in these do or die games.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:14
I don't believe so.
Ben Clemens
11:14
I'd find it shocking. I don't think he's obviously made any mistakes
Alex
11:14
It's a shame that charges and adjudication can, somehow, obscure so much and make assessing the seriousness of someone's conduct. He was charged with assault...Doesn't mean he didn't, in fact, commit a battery that may have had a more serious intent. Could be something else entirely. Could be just as charged. Rarely is a perfect reconstruction available. Charges can also be a negotiation. "Under charging" happens, too, if the prosecutor thinks it merits lesser charges. Over charging gets more press, but it's not the only distortion. In any case, he messed up, badly, and served his sentence. What more do we want?

I don't know if any simulation could predict a Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell!
Furious George
11:15
Or maybe it's all just a dream. The St. Elsewhere Theory is I think what that's called.
Belli Flop

Ji-Man joy time
(He brings me joy)
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:15
A dream is kinda just a simulation run by one brain.
Ben Clemens
11:15
There's something very satisfying about clicking a submitted message into chat.
Matt
11:15
I'm still not sure why this simulation hasn't put a Wendy's in a Taco Bell. That would bring me joy.
Furious George
11:16
What? No it isn't. What is a dream "simulating"?
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:16
What's it with you guys and Taco Bell? You can get great indie tacos anywhere now.
Ben Clemens
11:16
Reality. Just, poorly.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:16
It's creating visions based on the data it currently has.
hildebeast21
11:16
i'm pretty sure the simulation would be broken by the fact that mariano rivera threw 1 pitch for 10 years and nobody could hit it
Alex
11:16
I’ve already committed to naming my future daughter Ji-Woman.
xHBP
11:17
But not ones made of Doritos for no reason.
NathanLazarus
11:17
John Sterling’s home run call for Ji-Man Choi was “the G-Man of New York.”
Belli Flop
11:17
@Alex I might steal that
Ben Clemens
11:17
I haven't been to a Taco Bell since college.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:17
Your future daughters already despise you.
Ben Clemens
11:17
I'm pretty happy with that decision.
Furious George
11:17
Dreams do not simulate reality. They emulate unreality.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:17
Depends how you approach the question.
Ben Clemens
11:18
You hate to see a game get so out of hand that we're going down a simulation theory rabbit hole.
On the other hand, maybe you love to see it.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:18
I once had a dream that I opened a frozen yogurt stand with Imogene Coca. Was it a good display of unreality or a poor reflection of actual reality?
hildebeast21
11:18
this game has been pretty awful since the second inning
Lunar verLander
11:18
At least we can all agree that this whole series of events was predetermined and that there is no free will
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:18
The Luzardo/Anderson moments have been teriffic.
11:19
I just spelled terrific wrong.
