Thanks for sending me/us to the audio about the piped in crowd noise; that was very interesting.

There’s still time for a 12 run inning

This has been proved possible. That said, it takes hitters who are hitting.

It was Earl Weaver, who IMHO was unsurpassed as a manager simply because he recognized that the bunt is never a good play.

Game 7s are great fun, albeit mostly if you don't have a hors in the race. There will be a lot edgy and distracted Astros and (especially) Rays fans tomorrow.  This assuming no rally tonight, of course.

(Acuña just grounded out in the other game, if anyone is interested. Dodgers didn't score in the top of the inning.)

Arozarena coming up empty there feels like the end of the night for the flappy bois.

An Arozarena hit certainly would have made the game more interesting.

If you're Dusty Baker, at what point do you quite trying to save guys for tomorrow and bring in one of your best relievers? 7-4? 7-5?

Tying run at the plate, for sure. Maybe tying run on deck.

So I've heard some comments about the San Diego pitching mound. With Alvarado and Snell's struggles, Pressley's hammy sensitivity, Josh Jame's injury... - think anything's there?  Seems like it's pretty heavily regulated.

I asked Glasnow about pitching at Petco earlier this week -- mound and backdrop -- and he didn't suggest it was different.

I am forced to leave this lively discourse and move over to the NLCS where the NL MVP just hit a double, then moved to 3rd on a passed ball.

What is going on with catchers today?

I am dying to see Greinke out of the pen tomorrow in an all-hands-on-deck situation. Made his last relief appearance in 2007. So you're telling me there's a chance?

I think anything is possible tomorrow.

Braves just put a run on the board on a d'Arnaud sac fly

Meanwhile, we're approaching the three-and-a-half hour mark and we''re in the top of the eighth. And yes, I want you to get off my lawn.

I don't want the Astros to win but I like the idea of a game where the catcher matchup is d'Arnaud vs Garneau

Wrong game but I can't get over how Freddie Freeman suffered from a severe case of Covid-19 and has returned to have an incredible season and playoffs. Simply amazing.
Meg Rowley

It's pretty amazing - I don't mean that to say if he hadn't been able to play like this it would have been some failing but, it's pretty remarkable.

If there is indeed a Game 7, the Astros will have played a winner-take-all postseason game in four out of the last six years.
Craig
9:36
How many consecutive postseason appearances before it goes from the playoffs are a crapshoot to ok maybe something is going on with the Dodgers
AvatarDavid Laurila
9:37
Well, the Dodgers have lost in the postseason in each of the past seven years, and 11 times in the past 17 years. From 1941-1953, they lost in the World Series five times (without winning one) and had three 96-plus-win seasons where they didn’t reach the Series. They have truly had some bad stretches.

Re: Craig's comment: A Dodgers-Twins series would be great right now.

As a Twins fan yes it would be. Yes it would be.

How many runs do the Astros need to score here to let Sneed or De Jong finish the game and save everyone else?
AvatarDavid Laurila

Might be one base hit away from just that.
9:42
Pretty good chance that Erik Neander is mapping out a pitching plan for tomorrow just now.

Just to say something about the other game, A.J. Minter has dealt through two innings (1 hit, 4 SO), which is impressive for a guy who had a 7.06 ERA last year (and a 0.86 ERA this year).

If you're the Astros do you try to arrange for cutouts of the 2004 Yankees in the stands for tomorrow's game?
Meg Rowley

If I'm the Astros, I try to avoid antagonistic sass, which likely means they do it.
AvatarDavid Laurila

A Dusty Baker fact: He played for the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in 1981, and finished his career with 1,981 hits.
