We track and report every vaccination to the city and state. We have set up a process to track side effects and you will receive information about this at the time of your vaccination. You will also receive information about VSafe, a CDC program that will send you text messages periodically asking you to provide information about symptoms. A complication from the vaccine will be treated the same as any other injury on the job by HR.

What kind of tracking is in place for those who take the vaccine?   Will the Einstein vaccination data how many participated vaccine effectiveness and adverse events be posted or shared with employees                                              Will there employee post vaccine data I need to share to monitor the effectiveness/non-effectiveness of the vaccine?   If I have a severe reaction or complication from taking the vaccine am I covered by Einstein's workers compensation?

The vaccine is 95% effective in preventing Covid and it also appears to decrease the severity of Covid if you do get infected

I understand that this vaccine..does not prevent infection..but it keeps the person from getting scik..is that correct
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:12
No. In fact the vaccine is recommended since your body may react differently to the vaccine than it did to the infection potentially providing you with more protection.

Is there any contraindication on getting the vaccine if you’ve already had COVID?

Is there a separate sign up for Vaccine for EMCM employees today?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:11
Yes the age risk factor was based on CDC guidance of people older than 65 being higher risk.

Is the age preference for receiving the vaccine only based on age >65 years old. What if you are 59 yo?

The Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine has recommended that pregnant women be offered the vaccine after a shared decision-making discussion with their obstetrician. Therefore, if a woman decides to have the vaccine, we will require a note from her obstetrician.

I am pregnant. I know the vaccine hasn’t been tested on pregnant women but I’ve also read that it should be the woman’s discretion and a lot of people are recommending it. What are your thoughts on this?
Einstein Healthcare Network
The only contraindications to the vaccine at this time are allergies to any of the components of the vaccine. These are listed on the consent form
12:10
At this time there is no change in practice for staff who have or haven't received the vaccine. Vaccinated staff should continue to follow all risk mitigation strategies such as mask/PPE use, social distancing, etc. They will also need to quarantine after an exposure. As we get more people vaccinated this guidance will likely change and we will follow all CDC & public health guidance on this.

Once a staff member receives the complete vaccination, then has a primary exposure, will the staff member have to quarantine?

Are there any pre existing conditions that are recommended to NOT receive the vaccination?

It is currently unknown how long the vaccine will protect or if a yearly vaccine will be needed.

How long will the vaccine protect against the virus? Is it a vaccine that is 1 and done and is it a yearly vaccine like the flu shot? Thanks
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:09
That is a very good question. Gloves are not required when administering vaccine since the gloves protect the vaccinators who sanitize in between vaccinations

12:09
Why are none of the employees administering the vaccine wearing gloves?
Einstein Healthcare Network

Since the trials are only reporting data for two months, we do not know at this time how long the protection will last.

How long does the vaccine protection last?

The study that was published in the New England Journal of Medicine included some patients with immunosuppression. They did not see any differences in those patients versus those without immunosuppression. The vaccine appears to be safe and effective in patients who are immunosuppressed but more studies are underway investigating that question in more detail

If you are immunosuppressed, should you still be getting the vaccine?  Will you be able to mount an appropriate immune response to the vaccine in order for it to be protective? If you anticipate being able to stop systemic immunosuppression within the next couple of months, would it be better to wait to get the vaccine until then?  Thanks

There is really no data on this question however it is likely to be safe

Is it safe to get the vaccine while you are on antibiotics?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:08
In the clinical trials, there were no serious side effect and no indication that people with medical issues were more prone to side effects.

person with health issues diabetes and high blood pressure and heart vaccine  will not effect the person with these problems

We are prioritizing staff members based upon professional risk and personal risk so that if you work in an ICU or ER setting you have the highest professional risk and if you are over age 65 and have a comorbid condition like diabetes which puts you at risk for complications from Covid you would be at the highest risk

In Dr Sivak's memo from 12/15 it states we will have enough vaccine to offer to everyone in the high risk categories in the next few weeks. Does this mean employees who have an age related priority, a health condition priority, or every who falls into Level 1. A. I and II?

Most vaccine side effects develop within the first days or weeks after vaccination. With this vaccine most people that developed symptoms after the vaccine developed local pain or redness at the injection site, fever, muscle/body aches, and chills. These usually were within the first 2-3 days.

Hello.  With other vaccines, when do side effects typically occur (i.e., within days, weeks, months, or years)?  This is a new type of vaccine, but is there any reason to believe that what we have seen with vaccines up until now will be different for these types of vaccines?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:07
You will not need a blood test after the vaccine. In the Pfizer clinical trial, the vaccine conferred about a 95% level of protection.
Elaine Flynn
12:07
How do you know if I attained immunity? will I need to have a blood test ?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:06
We anticipate that you will have the full immunity conferred by the vaccine two weeks after the second dose.
Elaine Flynn
12:06
how long after I get the vaccine will I attain immunity?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:05
We are not currently offering the vaccine to family members of staff. We are prioritizing staff members based on profession and personal risk. For example, an ER worker over 65 with diabetes will be at the top of the list.
