If you have severe allergies to foods ,peanuts, peas is one vaccine better to take ?
Einstein Healthcare Network

It does not matter which you take. You should wait for 30 minutes after you vaccine though to be sure that you won't react.

How long are you protected once you get the vaccine? Is it a month, 6 months, a year?   If its unknown should you still practice social distancing and wear a mask.
Einstein Healthcare Network
2:00
At this time it is unknown how long immunity lasts after the vaccination. Studies are still ongoing to determine when or if booster shots will be needed. Regardless of vaccination status everyone should continue to follow all the COVID-19 risk reduction measures including mask use, social distancing, avoiding gatherings with people outside their home, and hand washing. Also all quarantine and work exclusion rules are still in effect for people that have high risk exposures.

Thank you for sharing this important information. If I receive the Pfizer vaccine as my first dose. But only the Moderna vaccine is available for my second dose. Is it just as safe and effective to receive the Moderna vaccine for the second (booster) dose? In other words, can you get your two COVID-19 shots from different vaccines?
Einstein Healthcare Network
2:01
Hi we are making sure that our staff members get the same brand of vaccine for both their first and second doses. So you should receive the same brand of vaccine for both of your doses. Only in certain extenuating circumstances would we want to interchange brands

Currently the only absolute contraindication is those people who have an allergy to the vaccine or any of the components.

What do we know about the instances of Bells Palsy in stage 3 trials? Do we have any data about a predisposition to Bells Palsy from the vaccine if an individual previously had Bells Palsy?
Einstein Healthcare Network
2:03
This is something that the CDC, ACIP, and FDA are still monitoring. The rates of Bell's Palsy in the studies was felt to be similar to the general rate in the community so it was not felt to be due to the vaccine. All vaccines, including the COVID-19 vaccine, continue to be monitored after release to look for any rare side effects. As of this time, there has not been any information to suggest that the vaccine causes Bell's Palsy.

What about shellfish allergies?  I had a reaction to the first and was told not to get another.
Einstein Healthcare Network
2:03
Shellfish allergy is not a contraindication to the vaccine. If you had an allergic reaction within 4 hours of the first dose then you should not get a second dose.

How long is the wait between shots for the COVID-19 vaccine?
Einstein Healthcare Network
2:03
The time between doses is dependent on the vaccine. There is a 21 day gap between doses for the Pfizer vaccine & 28 days for the Moderna vaccine

Why is it necessary to have two shots with Pfizer and Moderna?
Einstein Healthcare Network
2:04
Many vaccines require multiple doses in order to prime your immune system to respond to a virus. These vaccines were studied using a 2 shot series.

I have multiple allergies, my concern is that I will have an adverse reaction to the vaccine. Who can I talk to regarding this concern to determine if I am a good candidate for the vaccine.
Einstein Healthcare Network

I would suggest starting by speaking with your primary care provider. An allergist may also be a good person to meet with to review your specific allergies and determine the best course of action.
