Good day, all. My name is Will Fenton and I'm the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions at Penn Engineering. I'm here to answer questions you may have about our Graduate Programs, life as a graduate student at Penn and living in Philadelphia.

Good morning,
How’s Life? Got a quick question for you :)

I submitted my application yesterday for Master CIS program (due 3/15)
According to the website, the latest day I would know the result is in may.

However, all my offers are due for reply 4/15.
would I be able to find out you guys decisions before then?
(Ideally, at least 2 weeks before so I can pay a visit to make a decision if I get accepted)

Cheers,
Seed

Seed, thanks for submitting your application. Unfortunately, there's no way I can guarantee that you'll receive a response before the May 15 last Decision day, especially as your application was submitted near the end of the process. I'm sorry, but I can't give you a better answer than that.

Hi, so I had applied to the MS in Electrical Engineering program om Feb 01. But when i enter the portal it shows that i applied on Feb 2nd. Will my application be reviewed ?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:03
Anirduh, if your application was submitted, then it's fine. You wouldn't have been able to submit an application if it was actually Feb 2. This may have been when the system processed it, which is fine.

Hi Will, the admission website states there is an $80 application fee. But when I submitted my application there was no fee during the process. Do you know why there may be a discrepancy? Thank you.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:03
Michael, if there was no fee, it usually means it was waived. We waive fees for Penn students, alumns, employees and military veterans, among others.

Hello, thank you for holding chats with us. I had a question regarding the application process for the PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Is there a tentative date that the department sends offers?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:05
Aidira, unfortunately there is not. Decisions are released on a rolling basis.

Hello,

I applied to MEAM PhD program in December. I still have not received any decision. I wonder when I should expect to hear a decision. I do not want to accept/reject other offers before hearing from you. Thank you.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir

Emek, unfortunately these decisions are released on a rolling basis and there's not specific date I can give you as to when you'll get a decision.

Thanks a ton, Will! Sigh of Relief. So does the first round of admits for MS in Electrical Engineering roll out from tomorrow?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:06
Anirudh - it's not a "first round," it's literally the decisions they've gotten entered as of this evening. But yes, they'll go out tomorrow.

Hello Will. May I know the cohort size for Data Science program this year? As the first round offers have already been sent out, I wonder how many position left for the second round admission due on March 15th? Thank you
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:08
Yang, for this current academic year we had 40 in the program. I don't yet know what the size of next fall's cohort will be, in part because we are still accepting applications.
