Guest, the only way you would be rejected is if you receive a decision that states you've been rejected. Most of our PhD programs do not hold formal interviews.
Zekun Li

And will applicant of master student will receive an interview?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:31
Zekun, none of our masters programs hold formal interviews, so probably not.

Hey Will, another question. Does your application time affect when you can expect to receive a decision?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:32
John, not usually, but with the recent change requested by faculty to have decisions released every Friday, this could change.
Siddhartha
10:30
Hello Will. How do you decide who gets the result in the first week (31 Jan)? I applied to the Masters program in Mechanical Engineering.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:32
Siddhartha, I can't say, as we will release any decisions that the departments have made. I can tell you that, as of today, there are no decisions that will be going out on Friday for the MEAM masters program.
Charles

Follow up on my earlier question.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:33
Charles, to which program did you apply?
Guest

Hi, has the Bioengineering department started sending out decisions?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:33
Hi Guest, if you mean for PhD admissions, then yes, they have.
Olivia Turk
10:35
Hi Will, is the bionengineering department still sending out PhD interview invites? If so, are they released on a rolling basis?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:35
Hi Olivia, to my knowledge, the BE PhD dept is still sending out invitations at this point. They have been sent out on a rolling basis in the past.
Liu

Thank you for your answering. Another question, I found on the overview that I can get a MB degree when I graduate. Is it the same with Engineering Master's Degree mentioned on " https://grad.seas.upenn.edu/student-handbook/graduate-programs-groups/... "? If not, how can I find the degree requirement of my program?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:37
Hi Liu, the MB is only for the Master in Biotech program. You should be able to find the program requirements by going to the specific program page - select from the menu on the right side of this page: https://gradadm.seas.upenn.edu/masters/

As a follow up to my earlier question, If my application status still shows, "materials needed" because of the GRE score matching delay, then it will mean it is not ready for department review. You are saying I should not worry about that?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:38
No, Charles, if you included your unofficial scores on your application, then it is fine, as we will start reviewing applications based on the unofficial scores. I'm saying ONLY if you did not submit the unofficial scores on your application, then you will need to contact admissions1@seas.upenn.edu regarding this issue.

Hi Will, I've applied for the robotic masters program and would like to know if they have started sending out decisions
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:39
Arjun, no. Up until two days ago, the earliest they'd send out decisions was March 15. Now, the earliest would be this Friday.
Rob
10:36
Hi, I have not yet received an interview from faculty members at CIS. Does that mean that I have no chance for a Ph.D. at CIS?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:40
Rob, if you didn't receive a decision, then no decision has been made on your application. In addition, CIS does not hold formal interviews for PhDs.

I am wondering who makes the admission decisions for masters programs? Is it faculty of the department or a special committee? Thanks!
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:41
Zach, there is usually at least one faculty member and a faculty committee.
