Is there any way to upload updated transcript (MEAM, Phd)? I emailed the grad office with the updated transcript but no got no response so far.

Hi Guest. Did you send the email to admissions1@seas.upenn.edu? If you sent it to gradstudies@seas.upenn.edu, that email is a bit backed-up due to the holiday break, so I'd recommend resending it to admissions1@seas.upenn.edu.

Hi Will, is there an interview process for Electrical Engineering, MSE program?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:29
Wenting, none of our master's programs have a formal interview process.

Hello. One of my recommenders did not like the fact that for uploading her recommendation for my PhD application she had to create an account on a 3rd party website. This website’s data and privacy rules were not acceptable to her.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:29
Puja, I'm sorry about. Did she ultimately not submit the letter?
Puja
10:13
Can you please tell if there is an alternative so that she could submit my recommendation
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:30
Puja, all of these letters were due by the Dec 15 application deadline for our PhD programs. We do state on the website that Letters of Recommendation are due by the application deadline.

Hi Will, does it help to submit an updated transcript for fall 2019? Thanks! (Bioengineering, Fall 2020, PhD)
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Hi Olivia, it can't hurt. You can send it to admissions1@seas.upenn.edu.

Hi Will, do you know anything about the BE interview process? (If BE means bioengineering) Thanks! (Bioengineering, Fall 2020, PhD)
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:31
Unfortunately, I don't. You can email their Program Coordinator, Kathy Venit, at kvenit@seas.upenn.edu. She may be able to let you know if they've begun reaching out to interview applicants.

Hi folks, please don't ask your question more than once. I will provide you with an answer, but I will also delete questions asked by the same person multiple times, ok?

Hi Will, if I'm not considered as a PhD students, would I be considered as a Master students?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:32
Aria, we don't automatically consider rejected PhD applicants for master's programs. We recommend submitting a second application if you would consider doing a master's program as well.
Yug

Hello. My name is Yug Saraswat. I submitted my application for PhD in Chemical Engineering. But, it is showing 'Needed' for my GRE status. I am confident that I have sent out my scores. I am a bit nervous as to why the status does not show 'Completed'. Could you please let me know if there might be an issue somewhere. I emailed the department a week ago but received no reply. Thank you.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:33
Yug Saraswat, you can email admissions1@seas.upenn.edu to ask about this. However, if we have your unofficial scores then we will have started the review, as long as we have everything else. We did have some technical issues loading GRE scores before the holiday break, but they are all supposed to be loaded at this time.

Hi, I recently got my semester results but I don't have the updated transcript. Should I email my grade sheet instead? My application has already been submitted.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:33
AG, you can. To what program did you apply?
Jizhou

Hello. My native language is not English but I have a BS degree in US. I think I do not need to send a TOEFL score and I checked it with officer. However, my checklist page still requires a TOEFL score. What should I do next?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:35
Jizhou, to what program did you apply, and when did you submit the application?
Johnny
10:20

Sunny

Hi, I am Sunny, I am an applicant of ESE PhD program. I have submitted my application in December 10. When I may expect an interview and decision ?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:36
Sunny, ESE doesn't hold official interviews. All PhD decisions are released on a rolling basis, and we do our best to send them out prior to the April 15 national deadline. They should start going out in the next 2-3 weeks.
Aria

Hi will, if I already have a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Can I apply Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering again?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:36
Aria, you can. However, I would strongly recommend that you use your personal statement to explain why you want another master's degree in mechanical engineering, since you already have one.
Harry

10:37

Viola
10:21
Hi Will. happy new year, what's the difference between decisions released on 1/15 & 2/15? If I have applied for early decision and I do not receive a decision on 1/15 should I assume I will receive a decision on 2/15?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:38
Viola - it's basically to give the faculty a little more time, if needed, to review all of the early applications. And yes, if you don't receive a decision on Jan 15 you should receive one on Feb 15

AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Hi! I submitted my application for a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. I am wondering if I would automatically be considered for master programs with thesis if I do not get PhD admission.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Chengyang, we do not automatically consider rejected PhDs for master's programs. You would need to submit a master's application.
