And ik the residential trip is a RESIDENTIAL summer school, but if I live close to the uni, can I commute for the five days 😂
Murshal

By the university of Leeds because that’s where I’m planning to apply
Just one more more question, in terms of applying to uni, will my application be considered more than a normal application

Hi @Nomi, the events all vary so it's hard to say what they will entail - some are lecture shadowing, academic taster days, skills sessions etc, so it really depends on what you sign up for! All the events we run will come with descriptions when we advertise them, so it's best to look at that for an idea of what you're going to be doing. They are usually a half or a full day, again depending on which event you sign up for.

@Anonymous hi! We request that students remain residential on the summer school even if you live really close. Its a great opportunity to find our about uni life, plus we do lots of evening activities too so we wouldn't want anyone to miss out!

Hi. I was wondering if the access of Leeds the same as the reach of excellence.

Can i ask will there be any events in the Easter Holiday?
AvatarHaaroon

@Murshal, all applications are given equal consideration. Access to Leeds applicants are given extra consideration

How do you know if you got onto the medical strand or not (sorry I feel like this is a stupid question!)

Hi @Hassan. Great question, but there's not a fixed answer I'm afraid. That really depends on how you feel, what experience you already have and what course you're thinking about doing. If you do take a gap year you should definitely make sure that you've thought it through and planned it properly.

Hi Hameeza, RfE students are auto eligible to transfer to Access to Leeds. They are different but we will give you all the info you need to know via email in September

Does Reach for Excellence allow you to lower your grade boundaries for the particular course?
AvatarHaaroon

@Alexandra, the selection letter and pack you got in the post around Christmas time would have had a letter with it that stated which strand you were placed on.

@haaroon sorry this seems like a silly question but how do I know if I have got onto the medical strand of the scheme?
Murshal

@Haaroon thank you and will RFE and Access to Leeds help guide my application?

Hi I was just wondering, are the red events mainly in the freshers week or is there going to be more in the easter holiday?
AvatarMatthew John
4:11
Hi @Guest. Being on the medicine strand will give you priority on certain events and we will only advertise certain opportunities to people on the strand.
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:11
@Anon RfE students are auto eligible to transfer to Access to Leeds. If you apply to study at Leeds and are successful in gaining an offer, you will also be given an Access to Leeds offer at 2 grades lower (AAA would become ABB). You must put Leeds as your firm choice in order to receive an Access to Leeds offer. We'll tell you everything you need to know about this during the scheme, don't worry!

Hi Shauni, my question is that for what specific programmes will Reach for Excellence provide fund to?
AvatarHaaroon
4:12
@Murshal, yes RfE will offer you help with your personal statement. For example, we offer one-to-one personal statement appointments where we check and edit your statement. We have events that would help you with interviews, if your course requires and interview. The Access to Leeds scheme would help you by giving you an alternative, lower offer for courses

Heyy I was just wondering during the fresher’s week there’ll be a medicine and dentistry taster but it says that priority for this session will be given to those who got these specific strands. Do you think I should still apply?
AvatarMolly
4:12
Hi @Becca, the red events run through every event block, so if the subject you'd like to see isn't listed as part of February Half Term then it will likely run in Easter. If there's something you really want to see that is a little bit niche then please feel free to email us - we'll try and sort something out if there's enough demand for it!
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:13
@Shafrin hello! Are you asking about the Opportunity fund? If so, email the rfe inbox to tell us what you are interested in - this might be a summer school, day events. We'll ask you to fill in an application form to tell us how it will benefit you!

@Hameeza they are different but we work very closely with the Access to Leeds team! You're automatically eligible to transfer to Access to Leeds in Y13, but you'll still be on RfE too :)
