How do you see this playing out?
Ben Clemens
7:16
This is quite interesting, and I love that there are Statcast questions like this now.
Meg Rowley
7:16
We can like multiple things, but yeah, even as a Seahawks season ticket holder, it feels very strange for there to football going on this month.
Ben Clemens
7:16
Rather than link to Craig a third time, I'm going to just say under.
5 Run Homer
7:16
Wasn't the camera in CF for the first game in TB?
Derek
7:16
Re camera angle: MLB Network's camera angle in Tampa was the best I've seen this playoffs
Meg Rowley
7:16
Different broadcast.
Ben Clemens
7:16
Yeah I believe they used the Tampa camera wells or whatever.
Hm
7:17
NL teams look exceptionally weak.  Err, even.  I could see any of the 4 making the World Series...and losing handidly to HOU or NY
Meg Rowley
7:17
I think Houston just plows through everything and everyone in their way.
Ben Clemens
7:18
I picked the Nats to win the World Series, because I felt like being take-y
But uh, the Astros are really good.
Meg Rowley
7:18
I picked the Nats to beat the Dodgers so ya know, not so far off
5 Run Homer
7:19
Why is it that Fox uses a different camera angle than the regular broadcast anyway?
Matt
7:19
I think the Yankees lineup looks deeper than Houston at full strength. If only those two average righty’s atop Houston’s rotation should handle them
Ben Clemens
7:19
A lot of national broadcasts do this, to standardize their viewing experience. For example, the home Cardinals broadcasts have arguably the worst angle in baseball, but the national broadcasts are totally fine.
5 Run Homer
7:20
that was one hell of a pitch
Ben Clemens
7:20
Diego Castillo has really pretty pitches. Objectively speaking, his sinker might be the most fun to watch in baseball.
And his slider vanishes off the face of the earth.
Meg Rowley
7:21
gooooodness
Magic Kingdome
7:21
Any plans for an offseason series on interviewing Fangraphs alumni who now work for teams or are doing other interesting things?
Ben Clemens
7:21
Wow Bregman wanted to hit about five home runs there.
Meg Rowley
7:22
FO types are unsurprisingly cagey about their work, at least publicly.
We'd certainly run it, but I think it's sadly not super likely.
Ben Clemens
7:22
Can we interview Paul Swydan about running a book store?
Meg Rowley
7:22
YES
Ben Clemens
7:22
I'd read that.
Nathan
7:22
Why have we not seen helmet cameras on either catchers or umpires yet? I know other sports (i.e. cricket) have been doing this for awhile, and hasn't had a negative impact on players. It would be a great addition to the broadcast for viewers to experience baseball in this way. Thoughts?
Meg Rowley
7:22
They do it on occasion. It's a lot of fun in the College World Series.
7:23
They had a Go-Pro on the home plate ump.
I think fans would be nicer about framing if we did it more often.
Jason
7:23
I want a chest cam on the catchers chest protector.  Sadly, I doubt any of them would go for it.
Ben Clemens
7:23
Just surreptitiously stick it on Yadi's chest protector. We know it's got some sticky stuff on it.
Meg Rowley
7:24
did we ever get a good explanation for that?
Ben Clemens
7:24
Negative
At least, I never saw one
Jason
7:24
Or, since MLB's messing around with the ball anyway, how about a ball cam?
Meg Rowley
7:24
Sounds like a good way to get sick to your stomach.
Thom
7:25
Thoughts on Girardi in the booth?
Meg Rowley
7:26
Thought he and AJ for the Saturday game (that was them, right?) were great.
