Greets; chatters on this Trade Deadline Day. I, for one, can't wait to count the "Pencils down!" tweets in six short hours. Some interesting action this morning already; perhaps we'll get one in real-time over the next hour. But here to answer any/all MLB or fantasy questions ... Let's go!

good morning...thx for the chat.  AL-only Scoresheet...in first place, want to ensure my place in the playoffs.  I have (Crochet), Skubal, (Glasnow), Ryan as the top 4 (when all healthy).  Fill out my rotation (by ranking my starters) for the next month, accounting for aforementioned injuries:  Bradish, Melton, Detmers, Ginn, Cantillo.  Thank you!!
Brent Hershey
12:05
Melton, Bradish, Detmers, Cantillo, Ginn. The first two are close, but feel like Melton could continue to be a two-month stud.

Two questions                                                                                       - is Vlad worth targeting if you need power? Do his metrics show rebound?                                                                            -pick 4 for this week and ROS...power and AB most important...DeLauter, Conine, Stowers, J Pederson, H Hernandez, Edman, D Lile, K Karros....THANK YOU
Brent Hershey
12:07
I'd skip on Vlad. Just too weird of a year. Will be interested if there's a discount next spring, but can't trust it for rest of season.

DeLauter, Stowers, Joc, Hernandez

Hi Brent, Thanks for answering this question. As always, any advice is appreciated.

16 team, H2H points league. Please rank:

A) OF - T. Hernandez, Beavers, Nootbar, Mangum
B) CI - Manzardo, Locklear, Loftin

TB has used an opener (Legumina) with Seymour in his last 2 games. How likely do you think this to occur this week and in future? and why are they doing it?

In our league rules it is a significant advantage to be able to slot a starter into an RP slot and backfill with another SP.

Thanks
Brent Hershey
12:13
A) Mangum, Nootbaar, Teoscar, Beavers
B) Order you have em

TAM/Seymour - best guess is that it could continue to happen, but I have no insight into that likelihood. They are probably doing it to limit the 3rd time through the order penalty for the opposition's best hitters (top of lineup) for Seymour.

Brent, thank yoy AL only 5x5 ROS yoshida vs butler, caratini vs valenci, garnt taylor vs steve cruz and torkelson vs garcia over ffrom nationals. appreciate your hrelp!
Brent Hershey
12:14
Butler - like the gains he's made
Caratini
Taylor (just a better pitcher)
Garcia - better all-around hitter

One catcher league and need to replace Langliers.  Available are: Hicks,Ruiz,Mack,Alvarez, Heim, Rushing.  Best choice?
Brent Hershey
12:14
Hicks (all-around) or Alvarez (if power is first concern)

Could you name a couple of prospects who were ranked low or not at all who could be in the top 10 next year?  Who is the number one prospect in 2 years?
Brent Hershey
12:18
Outfielders Eric Hartman (ATL) and Theo Gillen (TAM) are both huge risers this year. In two years, possibly someone from the 2025 draft class (Grady Emerson?) will be at the top.

Brent ... 5 years from now ... Konnor Griffin and Jesus Made. Who will be the better fantasy player?

Interested to read your take!
Brent Hershey
12:23
It's close, but Griffin has elite-level power and speed numbers and a bigger (IE, likely more durable?) frame. Freakish athleticism, too. Also think there's superstar potential for Made, but not quite the fantasy ceiling of Griffin. Fun question, though -- very likely that the two of them are no-doubt first-round fantasy bats in 5 years.

Good morning, Brent! I have a "deep roster," dynasty question for you today. Amongst the players listed below, which one has the ability to reach a "sneaky good" ceiling?

2B/SS Chase Meidroth
1B Nolan Schanuel
OF Esteury Ruiz

Thanks as always!
Brent Hershey
12:26
Meidroth is my pick, because of the gains he's made this year, along with the MIF eligibility. That could be something that he maintains, too. Schanuel is #2 — would have been super curious to see his 2026 season without the injuries. Bat and contact-first guy who showed some additional punch this year in spring and early season. Always take a liking to those with bat-to-ball foundations that can get stronger and/or find some lift in MLB. Would not bother (or expect much) with Ruiz in an dynasty context.

Good morning Brent.  Scoresheet ten team NL only league & chasing pennant.  Who to start at SS for rest of season:  M. Winn; M. Dubon; C. Seager?  Thanks for your insights.
Brent Hershey
12:27
Think you start Seager and cross your fingers for health the rest of the way. Winn as a capable backup.

hi Brent. perfect day for a chat. lots gonna change by 6. nl only, tucker or freeman? Big difference in total value till end of year. concerned that dodgers will rest freeman.  doe Tena have value (with garcia traded)?
Brent Hershey
12:29
Freeman; don't imagine than any rest days are going to be felt that much in fantasy; they will also want to keep him sharp. Tena - meh; feel like he's over his head; they also have House to take a look at. Not really looking or expecting much from Tena
Brent Hershey
12:34
Well, here's a couple deals in the past few minutes:
  • Jo Adell to Guardians - makes sense, they are always looking for power. LAA is just going to continue to gut it, it seems. Maybe cuts into Angel Martinez's PT??
  • Taylor Ward to Mariners - Probably lives as an almost full timer; Canzone/JRod/Arozarena and Ward forming OF/DH

AL only, obp.  Is LGarcia this good or is he just hot right now?   Trying to figure how much fab to bid on him.  Trying to replace Langeliers still (Mead pick up did not work out) ....and now Kurtz??
Brent Hershey
12:35
I kinda trust it; think Washington has done some things on the hitting development side that is paying dividends. Obv LG going to another org, but he was a young prospect who continues to grow, so I think the power is real. Question might be PT; likely a Goldy/LG platoon at first base at least for now.

12:37
Hey Brent, thanks for taking my question. I have Bleday CIN and he’s been in a slump lately. For ROS, would you prefer any of these replacements: DeLuca TB, Conine MIA, Chaparro WAS, Carter TEX, T.Hernandez LAD, Peterson TEX, Ramos SF, Rave KC. Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:37
Conine is the closest for me; really good batted ball data on both sides of his injury. Guess you could got JocP also, choosing to ride the hot hand. Otherwise ... think I'd hang onto Bleday and hope the slump is temporary.

AL only, obp league.  LGarcia (NYY) or MClark ROS?
Brent Hershey
12:38
Clark, good walks history and should get more PT than LGJr rest of season.

12:38
AL only, OBP league.  I am considering trying to trade for AChapman for power... Please rank ROS:  CWalker, CMontgomery, DCanzone
Brent Hershey
12:38
CMont, Walker, Canzone

12:40
AL only, obp.  I am considering dropping CEmerson for speculative MWallner.  What say you?
Brent Hershey
12:40
Eh ... kinda surprised MIN hasn't brought up Wallner yet, been playing well for a while and they've had chances too. Some other OF options down on the farm, also. This spec could be a pretty high risk (though I hear you that Emerson has been a tough watch)

12:41
AL only, obp.  Are Twins less likely to call up Culpepper now that they are deemed buyers?  Still hold him?
Brent Hershey
12:41
I'd still hold. Think he's up and they have SS spot for him once he gets feet under him again in AAA (and stays healthy). They have limits to their "buying", and I don't see some other SS being an acquisition piece.
tuco
12:43
15 team mixed, obp.  Please rank ROS:  JCronenworth, MMclain, MShaw, KCarpenter.
Brent Hershey
12:43
This point in the season, not sure Shaw/Carp would be considerations for me b/c of injury unknowns. Probably would go youth with the other two, so McLain > Crone
Jackson
12:44
Hi Brent--Walker Jenkins has to be getting a call-up soon. How high are you on him longterm? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:44
All about health with him. Like Culpepper, he'd be up already if he didn't have 2026 injury setbacks. Would be surprised if he's not up shortly after mid-Aug (to maintain 2027 rookie eligibility). Like the power/speed combo, but does have lengthy injury history.
