Hi Brent, Buxton finally put back on the IL Next season he will be 34 and possibly recovering from hip surgery. How should he be valued in a Dynasty league? Thanks

Yeah, he just hasn't been right since early July, when this first cropped up. In a dynasty, always going to make sense to start shopping most guys anyway when they hit this age ... hard to tell whether this would be selling low, or if you should hang on, hope+wait for some HRs in next year's first half, and then cut bait. I'd definitely explore moving on. Also, the postseason or possible surgery diagnosis should play a part, of course. Good luck!

Speculation… 2027 Brave Closer: Iggy is a FA, Suarez basically a year old and maybe Rusty. Is Fuentes a strong bet to close or with SP injuries going to be stretched out to be a SP in 2027 IYO. #2. Thoughts on Susana of Nats. Should they bring him up in Sept. to close?

I think they signed Suarez to that 2-yr deal to take over in 2027. Does that change w/ Suarez's injury and missed tine? Maybe. My gut on Fuentes is that they'll try to maximize his value out of the rotation. Though 69 IP in 2025, now just 60 so far in 2026. So maybe not? Another post-season talking point.

WSH could bring Susana up; that pen could use help in general. Think it's a lot to ask that he gets a "closer" tag or shot. Another guy I'd think the org would want to start eventually ... but getting his feet wet in Sept makes sense.

I'm in a 12 team, HtoH league with categories that include W, L, K/9, W, ERA, WHIP and QS.  Would replacing Kevin Gausman with Andrew Painter be a wise move?  Painter seems to have found success after his minor league checkup.  Gausman can be all over the place, blowing up my stats one week and doing well the next week.  Thanks for your help!  Carl

If you get Painter through that first inning, then yes, he's definitely found something. Can see the case here. But would still probably lean slightly towards Gausman's track record -- though I have him in enough spots to agree that his inconsistency is a bit maddening.

10 team NL only 5 by 5 saves and 1/2 point for holds.  Lost Fairbanks and trying to order relievers in murky bullpens -how would you order (or top 5) -McFarlane, Kerkering, E Phillips, E Henriquez , Faucher, Ekness, Carson Seymour , Dylan Dodd?

Faucher first - just b/c I think his got the best shot for saves ROS of this group pretty easily. Then I'd focus on the "good" MLB teams (holds and vulture W potential), so something like Henriquez, McFarlane, Kerkering, E. Phillips, then Dodd, Ekness, Seymour

Thanks for the chat.  For 2027 and beyond, how do you project Ohtani as a pitcher only?  Top tier?  Second tier?  Lower?

Top tier, but with significant injury risk that would cause him to lose starts - pretty much like this year. If you're treating him as a pitcher only, maybe that's enough risk to move him to the second tier.

Hi Brent. Saves have seemingly been harder to come by than ever this year with all the committees. With playoffs starting next week and in a tight race for a spot, I don't think I have time to wait for Palencia to (possibly) retake the job. Of the following alternatives, who do you prefer: Kittredge, Romano (ugh), Steven Cruz, Dylan Smith, or Elvis Alvarado?

Romano for straight saves (has the job; is getting it done—and I totally endorse your "ugh"); Alvarado for skills but not sure of role, and Cruz kinda in between. I'd likely brace myself and roster Romano, hope they win some games.

Where will Josuar Gonzalez and Eric Hartman rank on next year’s prospect list? Long term outlook for each?

Both inside the Top 50 for sure. Gonzalez will be higher due to youth, position and pedigree; was 11 on our midseason list which excludes players already with MLB time. But it's a top 15 talent for sure. Some questions on Hartman's hit tool (exposed a bit at AA so far) will likely keep him more in the 25-35 range, I'd think). But should be super fantasy friendly when they arrive.

Hey Brent, the FAAB files and Matchup Tool have been invaluable this year.  Ashcraft has a 2.7 (!) vs LAA and Logan H. has a .7 vs Chicago.  Recent form tells me but Henderson but those numbers have me concerned.  Are those numbers real?  Playoffs start today, which of those two are you starting?  Lineups lock soon, wish me luck!

Hi Brent - Eric Lauer has a red .7 and a negative .1 this week.  But he's a SPARP in a 10 team head to head and he pitches for LAD with a good chance for wins.  Lauer or one start Braxton Ashcraft.  Btw, you gotta revamp the Double Dippin.  Lauer wasn't even in there and even non-subscription sites (CBS) had him in there prior to Sunday

As mentioned, the model loves Ashcraft b/c of LAA. But can see the Lauer appeal given 2 starts; might lean that way also. Appreciate the Double Dippin' feedback; always tricky to navigate between our SP feed and the timing to get the column out on Sunday to catch the most subscribers as possible. For me, Crews, Heriberto and Young (maybe) would garner consideration. Would pass on the others. Still believe there's a really good player there in Crews for sure

Batting average MIGHT be one spot to improve, but going to be tough running a ~50% fly ball rate. Makes good contact, just so much of it is in the air. You get the HR in this case, but the BA lags behind a bit. But 250/30something HR by end of season is nothing to sneeze at.

Hi Brent.  I see Walker Jenkins is updated for 70% PT.  Do you think that is accurate or would you expect 80 or 90%?  If he plays every day, will he stay below the 2027 rookie threshold?

Just moved him to 90% earlier this morning, accounting for Buxton's IL spot. Expect Jenkins in CF almost exclusively for however long BB is out. You'll see stats be updated accordingly tomorrow. Twins will absolutely keep him under the AB threshold, but shouldn't be too difficult at this point.
