Hey all! Thanks for being flexible with the time tweak; I'll need to have a hard out at noon ET, but will get to as many Qs as I can here. Let's go!

Love the photo for this week, Brent! Speaking of Thairo, what are your thoughts of him as a player? Is this season just a flash in the pan or does he have staying power in dynasty leagues? A couple of 20/20 seasons, maybe?

For comparison's sake, who would you rather have ... Thairo or Happ?

Would love your input,

Lee
Brent Hershey

I'd prefer Happ, and think it's hard to eval players like Estrada b/c of SF -- though admit I didn't realize he was playing as often as he is. Estrada could have a couple decent years, yes, but I'm always a bit wary of players like this in SF for fantasy purposes b/c of how much they move guys around. Skills, though—and results, really—are solid.

Good Afternoon Brent, your thoughts on CJ Abrams rest of year?
Brent Hershey
11:07
Think he plays nearly every day; even if he struggles. Will be the SS even when García comes back (LG fits better at second). Been a big fan, though admit he looked awful at beginning of the year, but much better upon his second chance. Even holding his own against LHP. Plus we know the speed is there, so a shot he also runs wild over the last 7 weeks. Excited to see him up.

NL 5x5 only- would you waive DHall to get F Reyes? Or just keep Hall? How much of my remaining $46 should go on Reyes if that’s your call?
Brent Hershey
11:09
Reyes > Hall due to playing time; I think Hall takes the brunt of the hit when Harper returns. Esp in an only league, will not find established power like this on the wire. I'd likely be bidding in the $30 range for Reyes this week.

1.)  Wacha or JP Sears ROS (AL Only, 4x4 Roto)?
2.) Is Touki at all interesting, or just not worth the risk?
3.) Will DL Hall contribute any value ROS?
Thanks, as always, for all the great work!
Brent Hershey
11:10
1) Wacha, but it's close
2) Interesting b/c some skills in his past; changing scenery
3) Unlikely, as they are moving him to the bullpen to manage innings for 2022.

Hi Brent, NL 5x5. Two questions ROS: 1.  Hr, RBI and R categories very competitive. Can you rank these players :
N Cruz, B Belt, F Reyes, maneses, Nootbar     2. Smyley or Junis   Thank you
Brent Hershey
11:12
1) Reyes, Belt, Meneses, Nootbar, Cruz
2) Smyly; more injury risk but think he throws more innings (better chance of wins even though Junis has the better team)

Good Morning Brent. 12 team mixed HTH league with W, K, ERA, WHIP, SV. Start 4 SP weekly. Have McClanahan, Verlander, Musgrove, Strider, Freddy Peralta, K. Wright. With the expectation of Shane and Strider having their usage scaled back your thoughts on adding Dustin May to fill some of the gaps. Thanks
Brent Hershey
11:13
Super excited on all I've heard about May so far - rehab, seems LA going to keep him as a starter, etc. Think he's a great gap-filler for you
Eddie
11:14
What is the update on Glasnow? Is he a hold for a keeper league?
Brent Hershey
11:14
Outside shot at a few innings at the end of the season; won't have fantasy value but (projecting) important psychologically. Absolutely a hold in keepers; no question.
Rolando
11:18
Mornin', all! Brent, this may be a popular question this week, but let me make sure it's asked (just in case):

How good is this Vaughn Grissom kid? Possible top 10 2B in dynasty as early as next season?

Ro'
Brent Hershey
11:18
He's good, though Top 10 dynasty? Maybe ... but although he'll likely have 2B eligibility for 2023, with Albies there I imagine he's also Dansby insurance at SS if they don't re-sign Swanson. Some short-term PT risk for him in dynasty, though, if Swanson/Albies duo comes back. Def interesting situation to watch.

Neck and neck in an NL 5x5. Just lost Luis Garcia to IL, and need offensive production. Is Barrero a help, or is he just going to torpedo my BA?
Brent Hershey
11:21
In an NL only and in your situation, I think Barrero is a shot you need to take. Sure seems they are giving him SS the rest of the way; he has big power/speed #s in his MiLB history; it's a great ballpark to hit in. Yep, tons of Ks and BA downside. But if you need O, it's a great option at this point. Give an offering to the BABIP gods and see what happens.

11:27
Hi Brent.  HQ has Barrero earning $19 ROS.  Why such optimism?  And is there any reason to hold onto a cheap Jesus Sanchez for next year in a deep NL only league? Thx
Brent Hershey
11:27
More Jose! Everyday playing time, and we think the ct% will improve to just 'bad' and not putrid. The .260 projBA does look high, I admit, so shave a few bucks off that if you wish.
Sanchez: Yes, I'd hold for now if you can (IE, have the room). Still just 24, and it's big power, though flawed. Probably write off this year, but I'd like to kick that keeper decision can down the road (spring?) if I could. Might still ditch him, but MIA is going to have opps

11:29
Hi Brent.  Could you please rank the following pitchers ROS for a redraft H2H league: McCullers, Ashby, Heaney, Detmers, Garrett?  BHQ’s projections have them in that order, but I think they may be undervaluing Detmers and Garrett.
Brent Hershey
11:29
Yes, might agree w/ your point -- in-season changes to the youngsters push them higher for me. I'd probably go something like McCullers, Detmers, Ashby, Garrett, Heaney

NL only, 5x5   I can have either Myers or Vogelbach. Who and why? I can gain or lose pts in all 5 cats... Incredibly close.
Brent Hershey
11:31
Slight lean to Vogey. I'm assuming PT works out about the same rest of the way; the Mets lineup is better and there's an "it" factor with that team that DV might benefit from. Plus, SD always seems like they're looking for ways to move on from Myers.

Do you think Ashby's start yesterday suggests he's turned it around?
Brent Hershey
11:34
No; still think that while he's got this in him, inconsistency is still his albatross. Put 3 or so of these type starts together in a row, then we'll have something. That could be Sept; that could be mid-2023. But I'm expecting up-down until then and hoping for the best.

11:34
Is it finally Vinnie P time!? :)
Brent Hershey
11:34
Might be, considering that week.
Steve
11:37
Have you liked what you've seen from Jonathan Hernandez? Closer of the future?
Brent Hershey
11:37
Pretty much, and yes. Think there's a shot he's the man in TEX the rest of the way, and is a second-tier type (has a part of the job, good skills, poised for the next step) come draft season 2023. Think Bednar from this past March.

NL only, competing for first in a dogfight. HR and SB are crazy tight. What are the chances Eddie Rosario can salvage a dismal season with a strong finish? I look at how aggressive  and trusting Atlanta is with its youngsters and can see Grissom grabbing OF ABs away from Rosario once Albies returns.
Brent Hershey
11:41
Think it's possible; definitely been better in August and can't discount last year's late-season run. But as you say they do have other options. Seems more likely that he's a solid finisher than a true difference maker. Though ... in an NL only, there might not be better choices on the wire if you need help. Good luck in finishing it off!
Porcho Villa
11:43
Piling on the Vinnie P. train: ignoring position, would you drop Willy Adames for him? (12 team 5x5 OBP)
Brent Hershey
11:43
Yes, probably ... power and production likely similar, but Vinnie with a huge OBP advantage.
HarrytheK
11:44
Is Garret Crochet worth stashing, or have I burned a DL slot all year?
Brent Hershey
11:44
Hate to say it, but probably the latter? Role in question; he won't be in line for saves in 2023  with that back end of the pen.

11:45
Hi! 10-tm, H2H category — For ROS how would you rank E Cabrera, Quintana, Braxton Garrett? Thanks!
Brent Hershey
11:45
Garrett, Quintana <gap> Cabrera. Like Garrett's stuff best, but obv Q in a much much better team situation. And those two have shown much more than Cabrera to this point.
Ron
11:48
Hi Brent, thanks to you and HQ, I am making up ground in a deep points league where HR, RBI and SB are high value.  Is this the proper ranking for best play at DH this week and ROS: N. Gordon >> Grissom > A. Diaz > L. Nootbar.
