He was a musician while he played, too.

Deep dish pizza isn't pizza. It can be absolutely delicious, but it isn't pizza.
august fagerstrom
1:03
oh

1:04
The video of Mike Aviles' daughter throwing out the 1st pitch may have been the most heart warming 30 seconds in baseball
august fagerstrom
1:04
Yeah, that was pretty awesome.

100 BORKPOINTS?? SWEET I CAN GET A NICE BORKPEN WITH ALL OF THOSE.
august fagerstrom
1:04
a couple, probably

1:05
When will Buxton figure out the majors?
candy man
1:05
can we just call it as it is: byron buxton sucks.
august fagerstrom
1:05
there you have it
sizzle
1:05
at this point who would you rather have: buxton or odubel herrara?
august fagerstrom

Good lord is it upsetting how compelling this question is
Consensus top prospect in baseball vs. Rule 5 pick
I'm pretty certain that one of the answers to that question is realllly stupid but the problem is I can't figure out which one

Long term, do you buy into Jake Lamb or Trevor Story more?
august fagerstrom
1:07
Lamb

what's your opinion of Robbie Ray. His peripherals appear to be solid, and he misses bats at an impressive rate? What can we expect from him going forward, and can you think of any older players you'd compare/comp him to?
august fagerstrom
1:07
I like him as a solid #3-4 type guy

Is Keuchel kinda back? He looks like he's kinda back. Not all the way Cy back, but still.
august fagerstrom
1:09
2.45 ERA, 3.17 FIP over the last month, 3.39/3.67 over last 2
Certainly is no longer a disaster. Would still like to see more bats being missed, but you feel comfortable with him making a key start again

We have such a strong chance this year to have a champion who hasn't won one in 50+ years (or ever), looking at the Nats, Cubs, Indians, Astros. That's why it'll be so disappointing when the Cardinals somehow squeak one out again.
august fagerstrom
1:10
This is a fun thought that I haven't yet had
Except for that last part

So in the traditional model of figuring out trade value, WAR/$ is used. That said, it's clear that WAR is irrelevant when it comes to relievers. Any idea what could be a better metric when using surplus value?
august fagerstrom
1:11
Nope!
A lot of my post today talked about this

Cubs offense is low-key kind of broken. Heyward has been awful, and so has Zobrist since his crazy good May. Not to mention the black hole that is the catching situation on non-Willson days (most days lately). What can the Cubs do to fix this via trade? And is there any hope for Zobrist/Heyward? Both look awful.

No. 1 in position player WAR over the last 30 days and for the whole season. Top-10 wRC+ last 30 days and No. 2 full season
That's a pretty tough grading scale you're working with there

I'm afraid Almora ends up as a really good 4th outfielder rather than a starter. Am I wrong?
august fagerstrom
1:13
Think this has kind of become the common line of thinking the last couple years

With more and more evidence that we have been underrating relievers because of the leverage of their innings, do you think more relievers should be in the hall of fame?
august fagerstrom
1:13
Was thinking about this today, actually
1:14
Not really sure, to be honest. Need more time to think about it.

1:15
Do you see Beltran getting moved?
august fagerstrom
1:15
The Yankees should be motivated to move him, obviously, but I just don't see a fit anywhere
Nowhere for him in Cleveland. Red Sox obviously have their DH. Blue Jays are out of room. No real need in Texas or Houston.
1:16
Tigers have their DH
White Sox?
