Brad Johnson
4:01
Hey folks, we'll get started in a moment or two.
Jake Junis Priest
4:03
Aroldis: is he a quick activate or wait and see? He can kill a ratio but might get saves off the bat...
Brad Johnson
4:03
I think he'll quickly return to the 9th inning, and there isn't much risk to your ratios
4:04
Obviously there is SOME risk, but he's more likely to help than hurt
High Strikes Low Balls
4:04
Have to start either Josh James or Touki Toussaint this week. Who would you risk going with?
Brad Johnson
4:05
This is a tough one. They're the same asset class - precocious, unestablished talents. They've both avoided hard contact in tiny tiny samples
James has the better whiff rate, but again, the sample were working with is so small
4:06
I'd lean towards James I think
They're both almost 50% likely to pitch fewer than 5 innings
Southern Bleacher Bum
4:06
Which 5 current 2018 rookies have the best chance for a HOF career?
Brad Johnson
4:07
Pitchers are always a poor bet, and we don't know what HOF is going to mean when this current class retires
They won't be used like existing HOFers
So let's focus on the bats
4:08
Acuna and Soto obviously
I honestly wouldn't bet on any others getting there. Gleyber, Ohtani, and...
4:09
I'm trying to find somebody I might have overlooked
Mejia, Meadows, Urias? Somebody like them.
Willians Astudillo, obviously
4:10
Who did I miss?
Bort
4:10
Uh, did Fangraphs just get rid of the ability to look at a player's splits for non-members?
Brad Johnson
4:10
I doubt it
I can check
4:11
Nope, I'm looking at the splits page for Meadows right now

hi brad! it's the finals in my league, and i need saves this week! who of shane greene/nate jones/mychal givens seems like my best bet? plz help!!
Brad Johnson
4:11
What about Buttrey?
Jake Junis Priest
4:11
Start bieber vs Boston this week? Ratios more important than counting stats.
Brad Johnson
4:11
Kinda lean against it in this case
4:12
Bieber, btw, is my pick for most likely rookie pitcher to have a HOF career
Excluding Ohtani
4:13
I thought that might be controversial, but he's actually the WAR leader among pitcher rookies (FIP-based, not RA9-WAR).

4:13
I'm looking at 1 week replacements for T Story in the finals: Profar, Cano, McNeil, Muncy. 5 cat plus BB and TB. Thanks
Brad Johnson
4:13
Those are very high quality replacements. Can you stream to target specific stats as needed?
For example, McNeil is great for R and AVG, but doesn't HR or SB at all
4:14
Profar is more rounded. Muncy is a pure HR play.
LAD faces way too many LHP though
so you need to target him for specific days

Do you believe the Cards will keep Jose Martinez with his weak defense or do you think he actually gets dealt to the AL to become the DH he should be? Keepers are due at the end of the year and he is only valuable in my league as a 1st baseman.
Brad Johnson
4:15
Unfortunately, it won't be this simple
They're not going to trade him for nothing so it comes down to finding a partner
4:16
And in a league where Matt Adams, Mark Reynolds, and Adam Lind are completely free, I have trouble imagining a good return for Martinez
