My read of the stats is that he might be a max effort starter like McCullers (i.e. good short outings) or a premium reliever on a team that doesn't have enough pitching to move him into the right role
Matt

Is McNeil gonna be overrated or underrated in drafts next season? Such an interesting case
Brad Johnson
4:55
Interesting indeed. I think we'll find a VERY wide range of pick on him.
The problem with AVG only guys like him (or Joe Mauer) is that there's so much pressure on them to never slump.
A Stanton can slump for half the season and still whomp 35 HR
4:56
The other issue is that it's really hard to visualize their contributions to the stat sheet. So they don't develop appropriate trade value
4:57
He'll probably be undervalued long term, I'm just unsure about 2019

Do you see the Rays making a run for the WC spot next year? Do you see them landing any FA?
Brad Johnson
4:58
1. I think it could happen 2. Maybe a catcher and an assortment of retread arms
Matt Wieters has shown some hints of life. It would be so Rays for them to sign him to a $1.5MM contract and get a 3 WAR season in return

Two studs in tough positions this week: Price @nyc and Paxton coughing through maybe Houston. Start either if ratios matter most?
Brad Johnson
4:59
Can't do Price against the Yankees
I buy into that narrative
Also, Yankee Stadium doom
I'd reserve judgment on Paxton until later

Does Adam Duvall play in Atlanta next year? Bench bat right now but Markakis' contract is up after this season.

Kinda figure he's gone unless they see something they think they can fix

Is there any batting average upside in Aaron Hicks?  Switch hitter, good walk and strikeout rates but only a .245 hitter.  Or is he just a victim of shifts?
Brad Johnson
5:00
I don't really see upside. It's a downside of being a patient hitter.

Please pick two keepers: Hoskins, Torres, Correa, Bogaerts, Ozuna, Suarez

Woof

I don't think I can do that for you without a LOT more information.
Not Ozuna

Looks like the standings portion of the site is broken!

Someone else mentioned an issue with the splits page. I think they're probably trying to implement some changes in the backend
5:02
Shhh
I'm probably not supposed to share that
Not Jeff

Jeff's article about Acuna got me thinking...how high do you think he goes on the board next year? Would top 10 be foolish?
Brad Johnson
5:02
Foolish but possible
Remember Mookie Betts the year after his debut
I seem to recall him going in the 8 to 14 range
It was a bad bet. It also paid off
5:03
Acuna is probably less risky than Betts was back then

Seeing a lot of Story replacement questions. Are you definitely dropping? I've been debating what to do and this chat and making me lean drop. Just didn't sound like he was definitely out for the year.
Brad Johnson
5:03
Oh, I wouldn't drop him just yet
But I would move in a temporary filler. I dumped Justin Wilson to do it

In a dynasty league with farm players, you think Vidal Brujan is a future top 50 fantasy guy? 70 speed with a high walk rate and sneaky pop
Brad Johnson
5:04
I'm never going to say a prospect is a future top 50 guy - at least not until they're doing late-minors Acuna or Vlad type things
I wouldn't even say Eloy is a future top 50 guy yet
5:05
That's just how I treat prospects. I'd rather focus my resources on players who don't require a breakout to be valuable.
