Teams tend to be strict with their salary valuations, both for their own sake and for league-wide salary's sake.  As odd as it seems for teams to go to arb hearings over relatively minor sums, they're thinking of the bigger picture.
Not saying that it's right or that it's sensible, but that's the reasoning

Which, if any of the trio of Burnes, Woodruff and Adames do they sign to an extension? Would they consider trading Willy this off season?

I wish Adames had a few more years of club control left. Scott Harris could right the wrongs of past leadership and bring in the righty power bat we need up the middle. Is there a fit with only one year and a pretty decent FA contract looming?

Making a big offer for Adames doesn't really fit Detroit's plan for the moment, since why make a push for a one-year star for 2024 when the team might not be ready to contend?  The Tigers might have Adames on their radar for after 2024 when he's a free agent, but even that depends on what's happening with Baez
