Interesting question. I'm not sure if giving out that number sooner rather than later would help or hinder the "moving on" process. But there are only so many jerseys to go around, so I'll say someone gets it this season, even if just a P squad guy.

Do you view the first game at New England as a positive? I personally am glad to get it over with right off the bat. I’m tired of hearing talk about playing the Patriots in advance and looking past other teams. Plus I feel the first game of the year is really a toss up. Both teams will be still figuring everything out about their rosters.

I don't think it's a positive. If anything, I think it makes it that much more difficult to beat the Patriots, who you were going to play at some point in 2019. To have that pomp and circumstance around the game, I don't think it helps the ol' Steelers.

I know it's early, but do you think the Steelers will showcase Dobbs or Rudolph this preseason in hopes of trading one of them?
Brian Batko

"Showcase" is whatever, but sure, they're each going to play a lot. Not sure how much trade value either one would have, but seeing one or both of them play well in the exhibitions could only help matters.

Isn't saying "replacing Bell this season" a bit off? Guy didn't play at all last year. Replacing Brown is the big chested question mark.

Yes, yes it is. If anything, JCon and JSam should feel even more comfortable without that story line looming this year.

Steelers usually keep six defensive linemen...who do you think will make the last two spots given that Heyward, Tuitt, Hardgrave, and Alalahu are guaranteed?

I guess at this point, PoL, I'd say Dan McCullers and Isaiah Buggs. But McCullers has to be nearing the end of his run here, and Buggs was only a sixth-round pick. Big thing for Buggs will be his versatility and whether he proves he's capable inside and outside on the line.

Team chemistry better this year and why?
Brian Batko
2:59
Yes, because the players won't have to answer any questions about 26 or 84. Or at least not nearly as many.

Hi Brian, Guys give Dupree a break - we could do worse and if he ever turns it on could be a stud. Hopefully this is the year and Oli looks promision.

There you have it.

Where would you rank the Steelers chances in the AFC going into the regular season?
Brian Batko

Always like their chances with Ben Roethlisberger under center, and I don't think there are too many obvious holes. That said, the schedule isn't easy. Patriots right away. At the Chargers. Rams and Seahawks, but those games are at home, and you have to go on the road to beat the two lesser teams in that division. Plus, I don't think the Browns hype is all that unfounded, mainly because I'm a Baker Mayfield buyer.

I could see this team taking the AFC North with a 10-win season, or even being an 8-8 outfit.

OK folks, we'll end it on that big-picture prompt. Thanks once again for joining Round 2 of my now-weekly Steelers chat. Enjoy the rest of the week!
