Sure. I don't think Santana's going to cost way less than Naylor, but you could argue that Santana offers better defense and that they'd get some MLB-ready help/depth in return for Naylor.
Nick Krall

If you are in Nick Krall's shoes, taking into consideration salary, injury risk, roster construction, etc... would you prefer Teo Hernandez, Tyler O'Neill or Michael Conforto?
Steve Adams
1:50
(Nick Krall is the Reds' president of bb ops, for those who don't follow these things as closely)

I think the order you have them in. O'Neill probably has the highest ceiling and is younger, but Hernandez feels like the best bet to stay healthy and produce. I could see the argument for chasing that ceiling and preferring some of TON's defensive floor though. Conforto's a clear third for me.

We'll see how the Dodgers years go, but he's on a track that could put him there for sure. If he retired right now, I think even with the two Cy Youngs, he would fall short.

Christian Walker is a good fit for the Brewers. A’s are “looking to add payroll” and we know it’s not likely for long term commitments. If the Brewers signed Walker, would the A’s be a realistic fit to trade Hoskins to as a salary dump?
Steve Adams
1:54
I think you could only sign Walker if you had a Hoskins trade already completed or lined up. And even then, first base just isn't a place the Brewers have historically spent that kind of coin. Even Hoskins' deal was kind of out of character (and it also didn't work out like they hoped).

If you're looking to dump a short-term deal though, heck yeah call the A's. They want to add payroll to retain their revenue-sharing status and most free agents aren't going to want to sign on to play in a Triple-A stadium.

Who would we have to send to the Giants for Lamonte Wade, Jr.? Kinda intrigued by him as a less flashy alternative to other possibilities.
Steve Adams
1:56
I'd be all over Wade if I were a team looking for short-term, affordable help at first base. Love the walk rate and OBP floor. Not super durable and lacking in power, but the prospect cost won't be all that high and he's not going to be in SF as a long-term piece. If he cost more than a pair of guys in the Yankees No. 15-30 range in their system I'd be surprised. But if you're the Giants and you're looking to shed some payroll, make room for younger guys, etc. ... that's not a terrible outcome.

If the Reds were to trade for Alec Bohm, would Emilio Pagan be a starting point?  What else would they have to add?
Steve Adams
1:57
Pagan picked up his player option, probably because he knew he wasn't getting $8MM in free agency. Adding him to a Bohm deal would be counterproductive and require the Reds to give up more. The Phillies are shopping Bohm around but not because he's an underwater asset. If they thought that, they'd have non-tendered him.

They're shopping him around because they have an inflexible roster and he's one of the few movable pieces who could hold appeal to other teams and be realistically replaced (by an upgrade) via free agency/trade.
Phils in '25

What are the chances Alec Bohm is dealt at the Winter Meetings and if he does get moved, what can the Phillies reasonably expect in return?
Steve Adams
2:00
I think there's a pretty good chance Bohm is moved between now and Opening Day. Next week wouldn't be a surprise at all, but nothing right now to  suggest it'll be then specifically. The Phillies will want MLB bullpen help or MLB-ready, optionable rotation depth in all likelihood.
Royals
2:01
Would the Royals have a legit shot to trade for Bellinger?
Steve Adams
2:01
I think any team that's willing to take on Bellinger's whole contract has a reasonable chance to acquire him

Is there something in Montas’s peripherals that seem like he’d make a turnaround ala Manea?
Steve Adams
2:03
Velo and K% uptick following his trade to the Brewers. Both masked by a spike in HR rate. In general, I think it's a bet on the quality of his raw stuff and the Mets feeling confident they can coax something closer to his pre-injury A's form out of him
