Super Two players are eligible for arbitration an extra time.

Who is your favorite GM?
Steve Adams
2:25
I don't have a favorite GM, but I appreciate that guys like A.J. Preller and Jerry Dipoto keep things active and interesting.
Dodgers
2:26
is Keibert Ruiz Will smith's future co-catcher when barnes becomes a FA?
Steve Adams
2:26
I find that likely, yeah.
Vinnie
2:26
Who else do the Pirates move by Opening Day?
Steve Adams
2:27
Any of Adam Frazier, Richard Rodriguez, Colin Moran, Jacob Stallings, Steven Brault or Chad Kuhl seem plausible to me.

What should the rockies do this off season?
Steve Adams
2:29
Gut their roster and rebuild, but they won't.

And I don't say that lightly. I generally think too many teams rebuild and that it's a ridiculously overutilized tactic with inherently diminishing returns due to the number of teams who opt for that route. The Orioles and Tigers had reached a point where it was necessary, but I don't think the same is true of a lot of clubs who've gone that route.

The Rockies, though, are there. They have a bloated payroll, a thin farm and no real chance of competing in the near future thanks to uber-teams in L.A. and San Diego.
2:30
They should trade Trevor Story, German Marquez, Kyle Freeland, Mychal Givens, Daniel Bard, Antonio Senzatela and virtually anything else that isn't nailed down for long-term assets.

Can try to move Arenado, too, but the no-trade clause, opt-out provision and $199MM he's still owed make that something of a pipe dream to me.
(At least in this economic climate where no team is willing to spend anything)

If the Rockies traded Marquez, what kind of return would you expect?  Snell-ish?  Darv-ish?
Steve Adams
2:31
Way more than Darvish. Snell, give or take, is a reasonable comparison. Marquez has more team control but Snell is more accomplished.

2:32
What would a realistic contract for JBJ look like?
Steve Adams
2:33
I still think something like two years and $16-22MM total.

Did the Pirates get a better return for Musgrove from San Diego than the Cubs got for Darvish?

Were Angels at Teheran show case?
Steve Adams
2:34
Heh, I imagine they saw enough of him in 2020, although hey, maybe Perry Minasian has some ideas about how to get him back into form. He was with the Braves when Teheran was there after all.

And maybe they were checking out Anibal as a depth option.

I recognize this is sarcasm borne out of frustration, but the reality is that they probably were there.
MLBTR Notification
2:34
You just got a notification that Wilson Contreras has been traded. What team comes to mind first on where he's headed?
Steve Adams
2:35
At this point whenever I see someone was traded I just assume he went to the Padres.

Theres no chance the Angels stand pat or do the same as last year right?  The fans are going to riot.
Steve Adams
2:36
I wouldn't call acquiring Raisel Iglesias and Jose Iglesias, plus signing Kurt Suzuki, "standing pat," but I do think they'll add to the rotation, yeah.
Angelos
2:36
The orioles going to trade Cobb?
Steve Adams
2:37
They'd need to eat a substantial amount of the money. If he's pitching halfway decent, it'll become increasingly likely as the year wears on. Teams are going to need innings. Return won't be much of anything though, even if the Orioles pay the bulk of the freight.

Best free agent SS for the reds

2:38
I thought Ha-Seong Kim, but seems they felt differently. Semien or Didi works well there. Simmons, too, but someone with a bit more offensive upside seems more fitting.

2:38
Castillo or Marquez more likely to be moved ?
Steve Adams
2:39
Reds GM Nick Krall came out and said he expects Castillo to be in the 2021 rotation. General managers don't really make that type of on-record proclamation and then trade the guy anyway.
So, Marquez by default, but I don't think either moves.

2:39
Are the Red Sox going into full rebuild mode if they trade Benintendi?
Steve Adams
2:40
Nope; going into full rebuild mode would be trading Devers, Bogaerts, etc. I think they can trade Benintendi and still try to at least be competitive in 2021, although it seems clear that ownership isn't too keen on spending to make that happen.

Is it just me, or does Matt Olsen on the A's seem very similar to Cody Bellinger in stats?
Steve Adams
I wouldn't say it's an outrageous claim, but Bellinger is pretty clearly better. Olson's still very good.

2:42
do the padres get a closer, either via trade or free agency?
Steve Adams
2:42
I imagine they'd be fine with Pomeranz closing games, but I still expect them to be active in the relief market.
Brewers Roster
2:43
Should the Brewers at least entertain trading Hader or Burnes to fill some holes in the Roster?
Steve Adams
2:44
They control Burnes for four years. I have a hard time coming up with a realistic package I'd take in exchange for those four years. (I am also a very avid Burnes believer)

Hader will be marketed this summer if they're out of it or next winter.
2:45
But trading either of those players weakens the roster at a time where no one in the NL Central is really improving. Brewers haven't done much, but they always add a bunch of affordable one-year guys late in the offseason. I think they're as much in the mix for the division as any of the other three non-Pirates teams.
