Is Jedd Gyorko a right-handed Moustakas?
Steve Adams
4:12
Gyorko has a .344 OBP over the past two seasons. Moose has done that once in his career.
Jeff
4:13
Moustakas makes a ton of sense for the halos? What's you thoughts?
Steve Adams
4:13
Eppler prioritizes on-base percentage, which is probably Moose's greatest flaw. They do need a lefty bat, though, and if they're fine moving Cozart to 2B, then I don't mind the fit.

If the white sox miss out on Machado, does Moose make sense for them without anybody ready in the minors.
Steve Adams
4:17
Wouldn't be the worst fit for them, but they do already have Yolmer Sanchez, who can field the position well and isn't a total zero with the bat (not that he's a good hitter, either)
Cody Allen
4:17
Why so little buzz about me?
Steve Adams
4:18
Didn't pitch all that well in '18. I still think he can get something like 2/15 or 1/8 if he wants to bet on himself and re-enter the market next year, but Allen isn't going to be at the top of most teams' lists. Once Ottavino signs, having him/Robertson/Britton/Miller off the board will lead to more talk on Allen

Why won't Harper just sign with the Cardinals already?
Steve Adams
4:19
I think they'd have to make him an offer first.

I’m not seriously going into ST with Duvall as my cOFer right?
Steve Adams
4:19
I cannot fathom Duvall as a starter in Atlanta when they're trying to contend, but I was also stunned that they even tendered him a contract, so....
Rick

You think Bryce Harper would take a 5 year deal to be a dodger ?
Steve Adams
4:20
I don't.

What's your take on the owners increasingly making more but so many teams not spending more? The luxury tax number has seemed like a soft salary cap, but without a salary floor it seems like the players are getting hosed.
Steve Adams
4:25
I guess the technical salary floor is $13,875MM in 2019 ($555K x 25).

I do think it's silly that revenue in the sport is absolutely booming, while player salaries are rising so much more slowly. I don't think it's rational to expect that there'd be a 1-for-1 correlation in terms of increased team revenue vs. player salaries, but the overwhelming amount of revenue in the game right now is why I wouldn't bat an eye or give a crap if players started making $40MM per year.

Frankly, I don't see why any fan cares -- save for the delusional and utterly wrong argument that player salaries impact ticket prices, concession prices, etc. (They do not.)

The luxury tax has become a de facto cap for many clubs, and it's one of the many, many elements of the current CBA that'll be strongly contested in the next wave of negotiations.

Realistically what would I need to offer Grandal to get him?
Steve Adams
4:26
Apparently more than 4/60
Willy
4:27
Do you believe that the Mets are out of money to spend?
Steve Adams
4:28
Nah, they still have some cash to throw around and lots of options out there. They reportedly offered Grandal 4/60, after all
Astros
4:28
Do we need another SP? If so who would you pursue? Gio Gonzalez seems like a good fit for a solid mid-rotation starter
Steve Adams
4:29
Yeah they definitely need another arm, but I don't think Gio's their cup of tea. There are higher-upside arms available in both trade and free agency. If you're looking at a rotation that could lose Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander and Collin McHugh in nine months, after already having lost Charlie Morton, I don't see how signing Gio through 2020 makes you feel all that great long-term. And I do think Gio can potentially get two years.

Anyone need a so;id right handed bat?
Steve Adams
4:31
Rays?

Chances Otto returns to the Rox?
Steve Adams
4:31
Low. He's in demand elsewhere and the Rox already threw $100MM+ at their 'pen last offseason

Why is it 'too soon' for the Tigers to look at upper-level free agents?   They're all going to be 3 or 4 year contracts at least.   Tigers will either be relevant by then or have an upper-level trade-chip, right?
Steve Adams
4:32
Because by years three and four of those contracts, the free agents in question will be declining
Frank the tank

Who will sign first , Harper or machado?
Steve Adams
4:32
Machado
Ok, I have to wrap this up. Thanks for chatting everyone. Jeff will chat on Thursday this week! I'm on Twitter @Adams_Steve. Enjoy the rest of your week!
