Kipnis was regarded as an elite second baseman a year ago at this time and had much of his 2017 season ruined by injury. I'd give him a mulligan rather than sell low on him.

I think he'll get a few million on a MLB deal at least. Could be Tampa Bay's 2018 version of LoMo

I think the analysis on a guy like Kipnis goes a little deeper than 'well a year ago he was pretty good...'  The Indians see him play every day.  I think they have a pretty good sense of what he can do going forward.  I think there is good reason to believe he's not going to age well or live up to the last 2 yrs of that deal.

He was also largely being shopped due to salary concerns and the internal sense that they could get by replacing him with Ramirez at 2B. They didn't find an offer to their liking and elected to hold -- I think that's a smart move rather than simply dumping him for whatever they could get on the heels of an injury-wrecked season.
