I really, really wish I knew the answer to that. It's not exactly exciting for us to have zero free-agent signings to cover for a month at a time, either. Ha.
Michael Brantley
3:48
What kind of contract can I get if I'm healthy and produce like I did in 2014? I placed 3rd in the MVP vote, you know.
Steve Adams
3:49
Health questions are always going to be there now after the shoulder and ankle surgeries, and he'll be heading into his age-32 season. I don't think anything past four years.

3:49
Is anyone going to strikeout over 300 batters in a season again?
Steve Adams
3:50
Chris Sale did this in 2017.
Dan K.
3:50
2018 World Series pick?
Steve Adams
3:50
I will reserve my woefully incorrect picks for Opening Day, once we see how the entire offseason has shaken out.
TJ Rivera
3:51
Why does no one think I can hold down 2nd base?
Steve Adams
3:52
Already 29 years old, coming off Tommy John surgery, haven't hit a ton in the Majors. He conceivably could, but I don't expect that he's going to develop into a surefire starting-caliber infielder.

If the Reds starting pitchers can remain healthy. They can be a 500 club?
Steve Adams
3:53
I don't see that in 2018
Curious
3:53
How does a guy get his questions answered on here?
Steve Adams
3:54
Dumb luck? There are 1800 people asking me questions right now
Rick Hahn
3:54
Should my White Sox consider any prospect for prospect trades? Any ideas you could float?
Steve Adams
3:55
Prospect-for-prospect trades are exceptionally rare, even when they make sense on paper. If a team is trading one of its better prospects -- especially in a day and age where every fan and pundit follows prospects and has some form of opinion on the matter -- you're usually getting something more proven in return.

Does Brendan Rodgers make his big league debut in 2018 and if so do they move Story?
Steve Adams
3:57
Rodgers is 21 and didn't hit especially well in his small sample at Double-A last season. I'd imagine he's in Double-A for at least a couple of months and will require some AAA time before he's promoted (barring injuries on the MLB roster). 2019 is more likely. I don't think they'll trade Story to clear room for him -- at least not during the '18 season.

I still think you guys should put a “Attendees” and “Questions” tracker on the chats so people understand.
Steve Adams
3:57
It's a third-party software, but we can suggest it to the company who develops it
Tom
3:58
If Hosmer returns to KC, is Danny Duffy traded?
Steve Adams
3:58
I don't see those two as being especially related. They'll move Duffy if someone offers a substantial haul. They can make room for Hosmer's salary by backloading the deal -- the Royals love their mutual options -- and finding takers for guys like Hammel and Herrera. They already cleared Soria's money.

3:59
What two cities would you want to see the MLB expand to?
Steve Adams
4:01
I'd like to see another Canadian team (Montreal?) and think Portland could potentially support one. Charlotte, perhaps. New Orleans? Shrug. I haven't given it a ton of thought, honestly.

Does russel, almora, and Montgomery really enough for machado? Do you thinks Cubs would really make that trade?
Steve Adams
4:03
It was never reported that they were willing to offer all three. The report mentioning them said those names had been discussed in various combinations, and the Internet went wild with misinterpretation.

That is way too much to give up for one year of Machado.

Think Kershaw opts out if he's healthy?
Steve Adams
4:03
Definitely

4:03
Gerrit Cole has never been "great" and is coming off a particularly mediocre season. I understand he's a former 1-1, but what justifies the ridiculous asking price and why do the yanks and stros appear interested?
Steve Adams
4:05
Cole had a 2.60 ERA with 8.8 K/9, 1.9 BB/9, 0.48 HR/9 and a 48% ground-ball rate in 208 innings two years ago.

Teams, especially in the era of analytics, are looking at things well, well beyond his ERA. The stuff is huge, and it's enough for other clubs to dream on. Multiple years of control at a reasonable price point helps as well.

4:06
think david price opts out?
Steve Adams
4:06
Hard to see that... I mean if he rebounds completely and wins the AL Cy Young or something this year, OK, but while that's plausible it's hardly something you should expect
Mr. Snrub
4:06
Better Mario character: Yoshi or Toad?
Steve Adams
4:06
Yoshi. Easy.
Rays Fan
4:07
Who closes for the Rays in 2018 after they deal Colome?
Steve Adams
4:08
I really don't know who they'd go to in that scenario ... there's just not a ton of experience there. I'd imagine they go bargain barrel and pick up a cheap veteran to take the ninth. Seung-hwan Oh or someone along those lines
Brandon
4:09
Trying to trade for Brandon Belt makes way more sense than signing Hosmer for pretty much every team in the league, right?
Steve Adams
4:09
He's up to, what? Four or five concussions now? I bet several teams would disagree with you there. (Though, personally, yes I'd rather take Belt with the concussion issues than give Hoz 8 years)
Tommy Titan
4:09
How big of a contact should be Padres give Eric Hosmer?
Steve Adams
4:10
I don't think they *should* sign him at all.
Pepe Silvia

Are the Indians making the right move by keeping Kipnis and moving Ramirez back to 3B?  Or should they be trading Kipnis?
