Rotation and Buxton are higher priorities, though they realistically have the payroll capacity to do all three -- particularly if some of the rotation help comes via trade.

How about Scherzer 3/105? Then a mid tier guy to put behind Kyle.
Steve Adams
3:39
Scherzer is going to sign with someone he sees as an immediate World Series contender. That's not going to be the team that just traded away every recognizable face on the roster.

I do think three years and more than $100MM is plausible. I'm a little higher than you in total guarantee though.

How should I replace Correa?
Steve Adams
3:41
I think their prior offers and Correa's comments have shown he's likely to be elsewhere in 2022. Trevor Story is a Texas native whose price tag probably more closely aligns with what Houston reportedly offered Correa.

Do diamondbacks go full rebuild?  If not how do we upgrade?
Steve Adams
3:45
To me, it's not a question of full rebuild since they're already pretty young and the veterans they have aren't desirable in trades. It's a question of whether they move Ketel Marte. I can't see the D-backs competing next season, and the demand for Marte won't be higher, so even with three years to go on the deal, I think they should strongly consider it. The return would be huge and should include several near-MLB players.

I'm thinking Rodon gets around 5/100 this off-season. Thoughts?
Steve Adams
3:46
I don't think anyone's committing five with how the shoulder ended up, and I think $20MM undersells his annual value. He was arguably the best pitcher in baseball through the end of July.

Any good FAs coming from Japan this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:48
Seiya Suzuki might be posted but nothing for sure yet. Tomoyuki Sugano can opt out of his contract and into international free agency.

Rodon to the Braves on a typical AA 1-year high AAV deal?
Steve Adams
3:49
I don't think he'll go the one year route, either, but if he does they're a good fit --- assuming they're willing to go higher than they even did on Donaldson.

Do you think the Mets are more likely to re-sign Stroman or Baez?
Steve Adams
3:50
I'd say Baez likelier than Stro

Can a player be traded before arbitration figures are exchanged or does the club have to actually sign them first?
Steve Adams
3:50
Can be traded before exchange day

Your thoughts on the Angels hiring someone from Driveline?  Have other teams done this?  Do you think it will have a big impact?  Did they hire the guy who worked with Ohtani?
Steve Adams
3:52
The Reds made Kyle Boddy, who founded Driveline, their director of pitching development for a couple years. I always think it's good to hire people with newer ways of thinking, in order to challenge your conventional ways of thinking and to grow as an organization.

Would A’s have takers if they just attached Andrus or Piscotty to Manaea?
Steve Adams
3:53
I don't think using Manaea, who has actual trade value, as a means to facilitate a pure salary dump is a great recipe for success. I'd be pretty pissed if I were an A's fan and that's what became of Manaea.

why don't I sign Correa to play 3rd base this offseason

How many $300MM infielders would you like on the Mets?

Ok, I have to wrap this up for the week. I'm on Twitter @Adams_Steve for more questions. Enjoy the rest of your week everyone!
