What are the odds that Nutting trades Jones and Skenes before they go to arbitration? I’m betting 100%
Steve Adams

When was the last time the Bucs traded someone before arbitration? Even Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon only had two years of club control left.

I guess Tyler Glasnow, but that was to get an established pitcher.

If you told me Skenes isn't going to play out all six seasons of his pre-FA time in Pittsburgh, sure. But I don't think they're shipping him out in the next year or two.

Probability Royals extend a QO for Wacha if he turns down his player option?  Any chance he is offered 50m plus on the open market?
Steve Adams
2:07
He's a 50-50ish guy. We have him in the "borderline" category of the QO Preview for pitchers that'll run on the site today.

I don't think he gets $50MM even without a QO, though I wouldn't be totally shocked. If he rejects a QO, I don't think he's getting 50.

Might Emerson Hancock be moved to a team like.... The Reds? for a young infielder?
Steve Adams
2:08
Yeah I can see Hancock being moved for a bat.  But Hancock's stock isn't close to its highest point anymore, either.

Looks like the big money teams in the series.   How is baseball going to thrive if some of the small market teams never show up in the big show?
Steve Adams

The D-backs were in the World Series 12 months ago.

Whatbdobyounsee Christian Walker getting in FA? Darn good player - power, defense- but on the older side.
Steve Adams

Three years at around 20 per, give or take a couple million.

Do you think Sasaki will be available this offseason and if he will which team has the best chance to sign him?
Steve Adams

I have a hard time really seeing it, just because he'd be leaving possibly $300MM+ on the table. I know Ohtani did that, and it worked out well for him, but if Roki Sasaki waits two more years to be posted, he'll be a 25-year-old ace who's considered a "professional" by MLB and thus able to sign for any length/amount. If he's posted this offseason he'll be a 23-year-old "amateur" who's capped at a signing bonus under like $8MM.

Yamamoto just got $325MM last winter despite never having thrown a big league pitch. Sasaki would be held in that same regard, possibly even higher.

Obviously comes down to the player's personal motivations and aspirations, but that is a really hard pill to swallow
(Taking like $5-8MM when you could get $300MM+ in two years)

Does SL pick up Lynn, Gibson options? What is their market value?
Steve Adams
2:14
I'd have said yes on Gibson, no on Lynn prior to the revelation about stepping back and cutting payroll. I think both are bought out and both sign similar one-year deals again. Suppose there's a case to pick up Gibson's option and trade him, but he's making right around his market value so it's not like they'd get a big return for him or anything. And out of respect and that lack of surplus value, I think they just decline and let him choose his next spot.

Diaz still with Rays in March?
Steve Adams
2:14
I think Yandy will be traded
2:15
If I'm making unnecessarily specific predictions, I'll go a step further and say -- to the Mariners!
That's based on nothing more than the M's wanting to reduce strikeouts, needing corner infield help, and making like 2-3 trade with the Rays annually (at minimum)
