I definitely see the fit there, but I can't see the Orioles and Nationals linking up on a notable trade (as you alluded to)

Where do I go from here? Tigers, White Sox, Rangers or Roy Hobbs Senior league?
Steve Adams
3:58
I like Wacha for a Tigers, Royals, Mariners type of team -- a clear non-contender in a big park who can afford to let him make as many starts as his body will allow

With the signing of Waino, are the Cardinals done with FA signings?
Steve Adams
4:00
Nah, I can see them on a corner outfielder, some bullpen help, a backup catcher. They do seem more likely to be active on the trade market than in free agency

Would you see the Will Smith (SF) getting traded to the Dodgers after an amazing 2019?
Steve Adams
4:01
Will Smith (the pitcher) is a free agent.

Sign me up for a Fresh Prince/Fresh Prince battery in L.A. though.

Mad Bum will resign with the Giants and Wheeler won't get more than 65million
Steve Adams

Strong disagree on both, particularly the latter.

Is it crazy for a team to prefer Donaldson over Rendon?  You likely get high end production for 2-3 years without having to pay a huge figure for the back end of Rendon's deal.
Steve Adams
4:02
I don't think it's crazy to be averse to the inherent risk that comes with six-, seven- and eight-year deals, no.
Donaldson is unequivocally great at this whole baseball thing, and getting him on a short deal is pretty enticing, even if it comes at a steep value.
steep annual value*

Joc Pederson is a perfect fit for Oakland - he's like Grossman but way better at literally everything - who does he bring back in a trade?
Steve Adams
4:04
He's not super cheap ($8.5MM projection), has some platoon issues and only has a year of control left. I do like the Oakland fit -- was talking about that with Connor or Jeff literally yesterday -- but I don't think the trade value is sky-high. Maybe a reliever with some control and a prospect or two, but I don't think you're getting a huge return for him if you're the Dodgers.

Any chance I get a starting job somewhere?
Steve Adams
4:08
I don't think so. Never had more than 265 PAs in a season. He's improved with the bat over the past two years, but he's not elite in terms of framing or throwing. Maybe a low-payroll team would give him a look in an expanded role, but even then you wonder if he'd eventually pushed out by a younger player.

Will Astros face severed punishment as Redsox and  Braves got?
Steve Adams

I'm very, very curious to see how Rob Manfred responds. He threatened the loss of draft picks for future offenses of this nature after fining the Red Sox a couple years ago. And it's hard to overlook on-record testimonials from a former Astros pitcher and an opposing pitcher who caught them doing this. (Farquhar detailed a time when he was about to throw a changeup, heard the trash can bang after the sign was put down and stepped off to change signs; the video of that is in the tweet I pasted earlier in this chat)

Ok, I have to wrap up for the week. You can ask me more on Twitter @Adams_Steve, if you're so inclined. Thanks for participating, and have a good week!
