I think that's more than teams will value him at, given the flooded nature of the market for 2Bs. I think he's a non-tender, but someone who signs elsewhere on a pretty respectable salary.

Any chance I get moved?  Seems my trade value only will shrink the closer I get to free agency.
Steve Adams
3:39
Yeah there's a definite chance. He's going to be traded at some point before the end of the 2021 season, and this is pretty much his value's peak. He'd still fetch a haul this summer, though, and the Indians could well want to take one more shot at contending wit him as a central figure on the roster.

Is this the year that Yankees finally cut Ellsbury?
Steve Adams
3:40
Would that change anything? He hasn't played for them in 2 years as it is, and he's not taking a roster spot during the season.
3:41
They could've released him last spring and been on the hook for the exact same amount of money and had the exact same 2019 season they had.

Do the Brewers focus more on pitching or on getting Moustakas and Grandal back, and potentially Gregorius?
Steve Adams
3:44
As I said earlier, they're going to just look for the best deal to add value -- regardless of position. The Stearns regime has leaned more heavily toward position players and blurring the lines between SP and RP (as Stearns himself acknowledged at season's end). I doubt you'll see them spend big on a starting pitcher.

What would it take for the Phils to acquire Byron Buxton? The Twins are growing impatient with his injuries and wouldnt Cutch be a great mentor to Bux?
Steve Adams
3:45
"The Twins are growing impatient with his injuries" sounds like wishful thinking. I expect him back in MN in 2020.

If the Angels sign Gerrit Cole, who do you think is a reasonable choice for a second starting pitcher?  Wheeler?  Ryu?
Steve Adams
3:46
Probably someone less expensive than that. Porcello/Roark perhaps
Jalapeno Pepper
3:46
Cole to the Brewers in a 3/$120M deal. Thoughts?
Steve Adams
3:47
I think he can get double that guarantee in free agency and still probably have an opportunity to opt out three years from now, so no reason to take the shorter deal.

Do you like your co-workers? Do you know them?
Steve Adams
3:48
I do! I talk to Jeff, Connor and Tim pretty much daily online and have met all but Connor in person multiple times. Zach Links from ProFootballRumors and I used to get together quite a bit when we lived in the same city (we've both since moved), and I met Luke Adams (no relation) from HoopsRumors over the summer in Chicago. It's a good group of guys.

Do you think that the Dodgers will trade Joc Pederson? They have a glut of outfielders.
Steve Adams
3:49
I think there's a very real chance Joc is flipped this winter, yeah. They have plenty of outfield depth, he's only controlled another season, etc.

Seems like mets could go a little better then Nova as a 5th guy, according to the productions?
Steve Adams
3:49
Part of the reasoning behind Mets/Nova in our predictions was that we just don't think they're going to have a ton to spend this winter:

3:50
Nova isn't sexy, but he's a durable source of mostly competitive innings, and that's really what the Mets need most. The top 4 there -- JDG, Thor, Matz, Stroman -- is strong.

Please tell me Fred mcgriff gets into the HOF by way of the veterans committee someday!  It’s a crime that he’s not in yet
Steve Adams

100% agree

Is Drew Pomeranz my top relief priority?
Steve Adams
3:51
(Dodgers president of baseball ops Andrew Friedman)

I think he'll be viewed as an on-the-rise asset and get a multi-year deal that'll surprise a lot of folks, yeah. Dodgers can definitely stomach the risk there.

How are the GM meetings different than the Winter Meetings?
Steve Adams
3:52
Teams and agencies send more reps to the Winter Meetings. More media there. More business is generally conducted there. Rule 5 Draft takes place at Winter Meetings.

You get to work from home? Is MLBTR your only job?
Steve Adams
3:53
This is my full-time job, yes, and I work from home, yes.

3:53
So I offer you (Odorizzi) 3 years and 51 mil plus an option to pitch for the Jays do you say yes?
Steve Adams
3:54
I think the Jays are going to have to overpay to get a quality starter in the Odorizzi mold to sign there, and 3/51 is what we pegged Jake at to go to a contender. If the Jays want him, I'd think they need to go 4 years at a premium rate.
Gavin Lee
3:54
you forgot about me I'm a cool dude don't ya know
Steve Adams
3:54
Nothing against Gavin from ProHockeyRumors! I just haven't met him like I have the other guys haha

Contreras + ????? = Soroka
Steve Adams
3:55
I cannot fathom the Braves trading Soroka this winter
Drew Smyly
3:55
Really, top 50 for me?  Where shall I land on such a lofty perch?
Steve Adams
3:55
Smyly has good stuff, misses bats, is reasonably young and pitched pretty decently in Philly. He's a nice upside play for a team that doesn't want to spend aggressively on rotation help. (Hence the Milwaukee pick)

3:56
What could the Pirates get back from the Braves for Marte?
Steve Adams
3:57
I'd think for the Bucs to consider it they'd need to get an MLB-ready rotation piece (e.g. Bryse Wilson, Kyle Wright) and some prospect help. Wonder if they might take Inciarte back in that deal as well. I do love the ATL/Marte fit. Phillies, too, although the Braves have more to offer.

Would trading Mancini to the Nationals be a PR disaster for Elias and co?
