Fowler/Greinke isn't an even swap, though. The D-backs aren't saving a ton, and Greinke has vastly more on-field value. If you treat it all as Greinke/Goldy for Fowler and tons of prospect capital, that's one thing, but putting Fowler in there really drags down the value for the Snakes.

How much have my past few seasons affected my HOF case?
Steve Adams
4:10
First-ballot HOFer no matter what.
Tigers
4:11
What should we expect back if we Trade Nicholas Castellanos?
Steve Adams
4:12
His defense is terrible and he's a one-year rental. I think Tigers fans would be generally disappointed by the return, because the demand wouldn't align with Detroit fans' perceptions of Castellanos as a player. He's a very good hitter, but he's basically been unplayable at two different spots on the diamond, defensively speaking. And he's not cheap next year, either, which doesn't help.

I hit .275 with the Orioles and played reasonably well but did I do enough to get an extended look at 3rd?
Steve Adams
4:14
I feel like they'll give him a look because he hit reasonably well and they don't have much i the upper minors.
4:15
As a general aside: his batting average has virtually nothing to do with that comment and, quite likely, has similarly little to do with how he's being evaluated by the team.

Would it be possible in the next CBA to make a change instead of giving teams 6 years of ML service time prior to free agency something like 8-10 years total service time from the date they sign. To get rid of the problem of teams gaming the service time system and incentivizing young players being brought up sooner?
Steve Adams
4:18
The difference between 8 and 10 years is pretty sizable there and not one either side would throw around lightly. In broad terms, that'd be a massive concession by ownership and a massive win for the players. Given how much the previous CBA favored the former, I don't know that I'd be optimistic about that type of change coming about in 2021.

Chances reds spend some money and or prospect capital this offseasons to try and contend by 2020
Steve Adams
4:18
I think they'll spend, but I also think they're farther from contention than ownership seems to believe.
'stros
4:19
Bigger need: SP or a bat? Do we match up with Cruz?
Steve Adams
4:19
I'd imagine they'll consider pitching a more substantial priority, but I do like the fit of Nellie there, yeah

Shoemaker a non tender for Angels?
Steve Adams
4:20
I can see it, but at the same time pitching depth is SUCH a need that I lean toward them keeping him.

Is Yordan Alvarez (plus others) enough for Realmuto?
Steve Adams
4:21
The "plus others" is way too nebulous to answer that. If you're talking non-prospect, throw-in types, then no. But he's a fine starting point if you're adding some other well-regarded prospects from the upper tier of talent in the Astros' farm.

HOW MANY LIKES OR RETWEETS DO I NEED TO GET FOR U TO BE FIRED???  GO TO BLEACHER REPORT U BUM
Steve Adams
4:22
I think my contract actually says I only need a tweet to get like 33 RTs and 50 likes to be fired. Should've hired Boras to negotiate for me.

Does a Carlos Santana trade to the Twins make sense?
Steve Adams
4:25
It'd make some sense. He'd give them a good glove at 1B to replace Mauer, and the connection with Derek Falvey is fairly obvious. But the Phils would also have to eat some of that remaining money, and the Twins might want some additional talent just for bailing them out on part of the deal.

Santana's deal is in no way desirable, but he wasn't as terrible as some Phils fans make him out to be. From May 1 through season's end he hit .245/.364/.444 with 22 HR in 557 PAs (119 wRC+)

Chances that the Cubs sign Pollock and then package some outfielders for a Kluber or Paxton?
Steve Adams
4:26
Don't think they'll spend that kind of coin, nor do I think the OFs you presumably have in mind (Schwarber, Happ) are going to be focal points in a Paxton trade.

Would the Astros be interested in Jose Abreu?
Steve Adams
4:26
I'd imagine so, but I don't think the Sox will trade him.
4:27
Not to say they're making him off limits or anything -- they just haven't ever really shown any degree of seriousness w/r/t to trading him in the past.
GM

Kyle Tucker for Madbum?
Steve Adams
4:27
Can't imagine the 'Stros would do it for one year of Bumgarner, who is not as good as he used to be (though still quite valuable)

Does Brian Dozier make sense?
Steve Adams
4:29
Have to think he'd prefer to go to a contender, but I do think there's some sense to the O's picking up some veterans late in the offseason if their markets haven't panned out. If Dozier's sitting there in Feb. without a clear market, give him $8-10MM to hit bombs for half a season and try to flip him in July -- why not?

Pache, Riley, Anderson and a throw in for Realmuto?
Steve Adams

That'd get Miami's attention

What does Acuna do for an encore MVP conversation?
Steve Adams
4:32
Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's in that mix next year, no.

Nick Castellanos to Atl for Allard, Gohara and Byrce Wilson who hangs up?
Steve Adams
4:33
I'm not sure they'd give up one of that trio for Castellanos. The three of them surely would't happen.

Is there a chance I will play on a contender
