Twins? Polanco to 3B, Sano primarily DH but start 20-30 games apiece at 3B and 1B.

Cargo.  Where do I end up?  Blue Jays.
Steve Adams
3:35
Jays make plenty of sense. Could see the Orioles as well. Rangers.

Do you think Hosmer would fit with the Padres if they really were interested, and not just doing PR leaks.
Steve Adams
3:36
Payroll is more or less wide open. Myers could be put back into an OF corner. Sure, it'd fit on paper. I think it'd be a mistake, but not hard to see them fitting him in if they love the player.

Why arent the Orioles considering a Machado trade this offseason? They're probably not gonna be able to contend so why not try and get a franchise altering haul for him now?
Steve Adams
3:38
Because they have an owner who wants to contend, and he signs the paychecks. I'd imagine that even Dan Duquette is aware that there's very little realistic shot at contending in the AL East next year, but ultimately ownership has to sign off on the moves. He'll do the best he can to cobble together a rotation with limited resources, but I wouldn't be optimistic. I do find it interesting that they'll listen on Britton and not Machado -- seems like if you're going to be willing to move one you may as well just move the other

what's a realistic expectation for jarrod dyson's contract?  or maybe the least you could see him having to sign for or his best case scenario.  believe he was projected for 2-3 years in your predictions. coming off a fairly comparable year to 2016 and only got the one year for a few million, so wondering what the rational is behind assuming he'll improve upon that by that margin.      (to be clear, I think he's a valuable player, just wondering what has changed...)
Steve Adams
3:41
We projected a raise because this is the first time he's ever been a free agent. He only got one year and $2.8MM last year because his skill set is criminally undervalued by the archaic arbitration system. A front office that values defense and baserunning will be happy to give him multiple years, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised to see him top that $12MM we gave him -- even $20MM over two years wouldn't be crazy to me.

Stanton already said NO to Boston and STL........and SFG is a long shot.   LA doesnt need him.......sooooooooooooooooo
Steve Adams
3:44
Stanton hasn't said no to either of those places. There are going to be dozens of reports on where he'd be OK with going. Since that report came out, there's already been another suggesting Stanton has a wide open mindset. Both are from very solid, credible reporters, which just suggests to me that Stanton probably doesn't know how to feel since this is all new, and there are varying interpretations of his prefernces.

I wouldn't put the Yankees on a list of the five most likely teams to acquire Stanton unless they can find a way to dump Ellsbury. Even then, it's not a perfect fit.

It's my birthday, do you think the Mariners upgrade the pitching staff or sign Carlos Santana, or something more minor?
Steve Adams
3:46
Happy birthday! I'd be shocked if they don't upgrade the pitching staff. Signing Santana -- it's possible, but Dipoto's preferred method is never free agency. Santana fits the Dipoto mold perfectly, though -- defense, OBP, switch-hitter. I don't think there's any clear favorite, and I'd bet on the field over the Mariners, but I can at least picture it.

Are there enough chairs at the table for these big contracts: Stanton (trade), JD, Hosmer, Yu and Otani?
Steve Adams
3:48
Well Ohtani isn't going to get a big contract at all. He's going to sign a signing bonus of, at most, $3.5MM and then earn the league minimum in 2018. So you're asking if there are enough landing spots for those four big contracts -- yes, there are. Could easily see Hosmer staying in KC (for too much money), Stanton to STL, Martinez to Boston, Darvish to more of a dark horse like Minnesota or Milwuakee -- the top free agents will get paid.
Me me me!!!
3:48
Markakis back to Baltimore just makes sense right?
Steve Adams
3:49
Not especially. The Orioles are trying to win and Markakis is a declining player with limited upside. If you're going to take on his salary (or even part of it), just spend a few million more and sign CarGo or something.

Who gets the biggest contract this FA season
Steve Adams
3:50
Darvish or JD Martinez. I've gone back and forth on which I think will command the most. Still leaning Darvish, but won't be surprised if JDM takes home the top payday
Rocky
3:50
Kinsler is old(er), relatively expensive, and his numbers dropped last season... what can the Tigers expect in return for him?
Steve Adams
3:51
Still plays a good second base and wasn't completely useless with the bat. They'll get someone who slots into their top 10-20 prospect range and maybe a lower-level lotto ticket that spent last season in the Dominican Summer League or Rookie-level affiliate
Bald Bull
3:51
Schwarber for Kopech?
Steve Adams
3:51
No way the Sox do it.
Jesse
3:52
Orioles need outfield help but have intriguing bullpen arms, Cardinals need bullpen help but are overflowing with OF guys. What would a reasonable trade between the two look like?
Steve Adams
3:54
I don't know how strongly the Orioles are going to pursue outfielders on multi-year deals. I think their hope is that both Austin Hays and Trey Mancini can hold down outfield spots, which is why I think they'll more be looking to hedge that bet with a veteran on a one-year deal.
Mike Hazen
3:54
One team that absolutely no one seems to be talking about are the Diamondbacks. (Surprise, surprise.....not really!) What should I focus on doing this offseason?
Steve Adams
3:55
People aren't talking about the D-backs because they have such limited payroll capacity to make any notable additions. I'm sure he'll tinker with the bullpen and maybe add some outfield depth, but I'm not expecting them to make any big splashes because they're paying huge chunks of money to Greinke/Tomas and have the biggest crop of arbitration-eligible players in recent memory.

Should I trade for Solarte if Kang can't come back?
Steve Adams
3:56
I would quite like that fit for them, yes.
Brad
3:56
Is Lance Lynn really going to get $80 million over four years? This seems insane.
Steve Adams
3:58
My jaw will hit the floor if some team pays him that amount of money. Lynn just didn't have a very good year outside of his ERA, and he didn't have an intriguing finish to the year like Cobb did. He's a clear step below any of Darvish, Arrieta and Cobb for me, and I wouldn't even want to give him a three-year deal at more than $13MM, honestly.

3:58
Does Sabathia coming to Oakland on a one or two year deal seem like a fit?
Steve Adams
3:59
I think he'd probably prefer to sign with a more clear contender given his age. I have to imagine the Yankees will try to bring him back on at least a one-year deal worth $12-16MM. Two years wouldn't be crazy at all after the season he had and the strong postseason showing.
Miami Blues

Justin Bour's extremely good results in 377 ab tells me he would fetch a high prospect in a trade.
Steve Adams
4:01
Platoon splits, 1B only, tons of left-handed 1B bats available in free agency and in other trades -- I don't think his value is through the roof or anything.
Scott
4:02
Do you think Mozeliak is not capable of landing a big trade or Free Agents.  Jocketty seemed to have no problem bringing big names to St. Louis (McGwire, Edmonds, Rolen, Holliday, Carpenter, Wainwright)
Steve Adams
4:03
Mozeliak is the one who acquired and signed Matt Holliday. He also signed Dexter Fowler and has made plenty of notable trade/free-agent additions. Not many of them have been the top free agent on the market that offseason (Holliday was), but that's hardly a bad thing; signing the top FA available is how you end up with Pujols at 10 years and $240MM.
Ray
4:03
Do you think the Ranger may consider giving Profar one more opportunity in CF
Steve Adams
4:03
I think the Rangers are going to trade Profar.

Which one of the Cardinals outfielders is out the door for 2018?
