I will be stunned if Randal Grichuk is a Cardinal in 2018.

Chances Lucroy signs with Rockies? I can't think of a more obvious re-signing this winter.
Steve Adams
4:04
I agree that it seems like an easy fit, and I can't think of another place I'd logically expect him to land

4:04
When is Beltran HoF eligible?
Steve Adams
4:04
Five years after retiring.
Christian
4:05
Do you see the Angels making a move to get Chris Archer even with a thin farm system?
Steve Adams
4:05
I have no earthly idea how the Angels could make the best offer. Probably 10 teams would come up with better offers for Archer, if he were available. I don't expect him to be available anyhow.

4:06
Do you think Darvish's WS performance will significantly hurt his earnings?
Steve Adams
4:06
In a word: nope.

4:06
Washington for Lucroy? Got the need and the directive to WIN NOW?
Steve Adams
4:07
Sure, but Lucroy was more or less terrible last season. The Rockies seem to love him anyway, even though he basically just hit for singles in Coors Field with questionable framing.

If the Nats are going to add a catcher I think Avila makes much more sense. Wieters has always been a vastly better right-handed hitter, so the two could platoon and Avila could also be insurance for Zimmerman at 1B.

where will beef go?
Steve Adams
4:09
Assuming that is in reference to Welington Castillo, ha, I like him to land in Washington, Oakland or Texas. Rockies would work if they don't re-sign Lucroy.
Steve S
4:09
Cubs a realistic player on Stanton?
Steve Adams
4:09
Don't think so -- having Heyward clogs things up too much, and they have a considerable need in the rotation.
James
4:10
What makes more sense for the Angels, Santana and Fraizer or Moose and Morrison?
Steve Adams
4:10
First pair is a better combo as far as I'm concerned.

4:10
Is Giles done as Astros closer?
Steve Adams
4:11
I would imagine the Astros will be very open to adding a bigger name reliever this offseason, but I don't think it's going to be "we need a closer at all costs." They'll be opportunistic, and if they don't add Wade Davis or Raisel Iglesias or Zach Britton or whoever it might be, they'll go back to Giles in the ninth. He's a good pitcher -- awful postseason notwithstanding.

4:12
Could Cubs make a deal built around Heyward for Cueto deal work?
Steve Adams
4:13
I don't see why the Giants would have interest in that, and just about every Giants reporter on the planet has shot down the ridiculous notion that the Giants were interested in a Heyward/Samardzija scenario.
Sam
4:13
Why in the world would Ian Happ even be a consideration to be traded? I feel like he should be one of the cornerstones, with other young pieces being trade bait.
Steve Adams
4:14
Because Russell and Baez have more defensive value, and Happ is the type of prospect that could net the Cubs a young, MLB-ready starter (that could also then serve as a cornerstone)

4:14
Are you taking a drink every time someone mentions Stanton?
Steve Adams
4:14
I would've been dead five minutes into the chat.
4:15
The amount of outlandish Stanton proposals I've gotten here are staggering. The Marlins are not taking back Jason Heyward for Stanton.
Gus
4:15
If Russell and Happ are traded for a controllable starter, could you see the Cubs signing Cozart?
Steve Adams
4:16
Depending on how things play out, a fit could open, sure. They have Baez, but they could play him primarily at 2B with Zobrist mostly working in the outfield.
Jake
4:16
Possibility that the Jays go into sell mode? The divison with the Red Sox and the Yankees make it seem almost impossible for them to compete
Steve Adams
4:17
They will next summer if they're not contending, but it won't happen this winter. (Barring a radical change of heart from Shapiro and Atkins -- Atkins has already been on record saying he's going to try to make the team better)
4:18
Ok I have to wrap up for the week. Jason chats tomorrow night at 6:30pm CT. Jeff Thursday 2pm CT. I'm on Twitter for more questions: @Adams_Steve.

Thanks everyone!
