I see the note about BlueSky is already getting jimmies rustled in the "It's not free speech if you're not required to listen to my Obviously Very Wise And Important Opinions" crowd.

Welcome to the internet in 2024. Hooray?

I'm on Bluesky though. No ads, and my "Discover" feed is actually things that appeal to me and interest me rather than X's useless "for you" tab that shows me absolutely nothing I had interest in and seemingly wasn't influenced by my activity, follows, etc. whatsoever.

What's the likleyhood the Os pony up andsign Burns and Fried? Or something along those lines?
Steve Adams
1:27
I'm in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp and expect them to be more involved in Crochet and the next tier of free agent starters.

Do you think the Braves regret any of the long term deals they gave out? Would they do a do-over with any of them? Impacts the tax either way.
Steve Adams
1:30
They can't be thrilled with the Sean Murphy deal right now. The rest of them are generally fine. Olson/Riley maybe not overwhelming bargains, but they're both good players in their prime who were worth 2-3 wins even in "down" seasons, and both have pretty realistic paths to a rebound.

It's not a long-term deal, but the Braves took on tons of money and paid significant luxury penalties to effectively buy Jarred Kelenic in a sequence of moves that puzzled me at the time and looks even weirder now.
Doubt they're loving the return on that so far

Has bichette actually expressed any interest in staying with jays?

"When I had time to think about what I want, basically, my ultimate goal really is to play with Vladdy (Guerrero Jr.) forever, to win a championship with him and to do that with this organization. I’m 100 percent committed to doing whatever it takes to accomplish those things. That’s where I’m at."

Alec Bohm for Andres Munoz.  Who says no?

I too don’t see the value of a Singer for India deal; Bohm would be a better fit (tho he ain’t a lead off bat); how about a Donovan or Walker package?
Steve Adams
1:32
Donovan's a better fit for the Royals, yeah. I think Bohm and India are pretty similarly unexciting players.

Who would you say are the most notable players non-tendered on Friday ??
Robbie Baseball
1:33
Who is the biggest name that you would guess won’t be tendered a contract? Would Jordan Romano fit that bill in your mind or do you think the Jays will give him a contract?
Steve Adams
1:33
Lots of questions along these lines.
1:35
I don't think there will be any huge names non-tendered, but yeah Romano is definitely one possibility. Others I could see... Trent Grisham, Gregory Soto, Austin Hays, Paul Blackburn, Bryan De La Cruz, Nick Madrigal, Patrick Sandoval (feels less likely).

Guardians fans will say it's dumb, but I'd think long and hard about trading or non-tendering Lane Thomas. His contact rate went up in smoke following the trade, he's always been better-suited in a part-time role than full-time, and at $8MM+, he's a lot for their minimal payroll.

I don't understand the Cubs/ricketts reluctance to sign I big FA contract, heyword didn't work out but Lester and yu darvish did, trade bellinger and sign Soto to a 12 yr/600 deal, maybe opt out after 5
Steve Adams
1:38
I agree that ownership's increasingly public reluctance to that sort of deal is odd. The Cubs' revenue streams are enormous. They should be going all out to sign Soto, or at least be squarely in the bidding, and instead they're not even making an effort. It's nonsensical for them.

Do we think Yandy Diaz will get traded this offseason?
Steve Adams
1:38
Yeah I think he'll be moved.
1:39
I like him on the Mariners, as he fits the goal of cutting back K's (in dramatic fashion), is the RH bat they're supposedly after, won't break the bank money or prospect-wise, and Seattle/TB trade like 11 times per offseason so... there's that too
Angels
1:39
Does Taylor Ward and Luis Rengifo both get traded this offseason?
Steve Adams
1:39
They should. I doubt they will, because Arte Moreno habitually deludes himself into thinking the team will contend.

Should my Rangers be focusing on bringing Eovaldi back?  And maybe calling the Dbacks to see if Montgomery will come back?  Rangers do need pitching.  I'm going to assume their offense will rebound some in 2025
Steve Adams
1:42
By all accounts, the Rangers are working with less financial wiggle room than in recent offseasons. I know Montgomery was good there in 2023. I don't get the repeated desire to bring him back after the 2024 he had, though. I think Montgomery is a good pitcher and a reasonable enough rebound candidate, but if you're a team without a ton of money to spend, putting a significant amount of those resource into a rebound candidate like that just doesn't seem like a great move.

If the D-backs pay him down to $5-6MM, it's one thing, but if the Rangers are paying even half the $22.5MM, that feels like a lot for that particular team.

More likely to win AL West: Angels or the Athletics?
Steve Adams
1:43
Ha, ask me again in spring training. Curious to see if the A's spend a bit. (They have to, if they want to maintain status as a revenue sharing recipient) Angels moves so far haven't exactly filled me with confidence thus far, but there's more to come I'm sure.

The non-Soto outfielders...who do you think will get the best offer, and will it be triggered by "losing" the Soto Derby?
Steve Adams
1:44
No, I don't think a team is going to overreact to losing Soto and give Anthony Santander like $150MM or something preposterous.
But I do believe Santander will sign the biggest contract of the next tier of outfielders.

Think an outfielder like Thomas or McCarthy gets traded this winter?
