Probably some pretty unexciting ones. They're going to head into 2018 knowing it's somewhat of a last stand, with Machado, Britton and Jones all headed for free agency. I don't envision them signing anyone to a 4-year deal or something; think more boring rotation filler types on one- and two-year deals. Jason Vargas, Andrew Cashner, Jaime Garcia, etc.

Reasonable enough low-cost deal. Not teeming with upside, but their 'pen is total hodgepodge of inexperienced arms. It was basically Raisel Iglesias closing and 6-7 guys who collectively combined to form the "shrug" emoji. Adding a durable source of useful innings is good -- especially at that price.

I understand the thinking that Gordon was a fairly priced asset or even one with surplus value that could be had without a huge return. But it does seem like a weird leap to assume he can play center field well enough to come with positive defensive value. I'd almost rather have seen them just put Cano at first base. Maybe Gordon will work out in CF, but it's an odd play for a team that so vocally expresses its desire to field a strong defensive outfield.

There's really no great way of knowing how Dee will handle CF, but their scouts clearly saw enough to say they think he can do it.

Huge contracts coming for Machado and Harper. What will Blackmon get next year? Seems like a great fit for the Cubs!

Blackmon will be 6-7 years older in free agency than Harper and Machado. I don't know that he seems like a great fit for the Cubs. Depends what happens with Almora, Schwarber, Happ, Zobrist -- they already have a huge amount of outfield options and the Heyward albatross that they're stuck with.

Next offseason is too far off to really say any team is the "best fit" for Blackmon. So much changes in a year.

I'd imagine it'd be headlined by two of those three. Giving them three more or less MLB-ready pieces like that would seem to be a lot to me, though. And I like Cole quite a bit more than most of the Yankees fans who seem to be rioting at the idea of trading prospects for "A 4.00 ERA NL PITCHER"

Lynn hasn't pitched 200 innings since 2014. And the Cardinals already have quite a few rotation options with the addition of Mikolas. I think Lynn is gone
