Should the Giants pursue Taijuan Walker, now that he’s available?
Steve Adams
3:28
You can make a case for any team buying low on Walker.

If Ryu isn’t back with the Dodgers, where do you think he ends up?
Steve Adams
3:29
Phillies, Twins, Angels, White Sox, Rangers, Padres and Yankees are all pretty motivated to add to the rotation (to varying extents). Phillies, in particular, have voiced an aversion to signing QO'ed guys this winter, which makes me like the Ryu fit a bit more.

Surely the Padres aren't done? Profar, Davis and Grisham really an upgrade over what we gave up?
Steve Adams
3:31
Of course they're not done -- there are still needs to address, particularly on the pitching staff, and they'll probably keep marketing outfielders (Renfroe).

I haven't really cared for the Padres' side of either trade they've made, honestly.

Pillar home to Toronto
Steve Adams
3:32
If feels like the Blue Jays already have about 55 OFs on their 40-man roster (most of whom, like Pillar, are OBP challenged)

Do you think the Sox try to trade McCann now?  Or really keep him for backup catcher and DH platoon?
Steve Adams
3:33
I've seen quotes from Renteria and Hahn talking about how much they value McCann even since the Grandal signing. Doesn't mean he's "safe," of course, but I think they'll keep him.

Where does CJ Cron end up and can he get more than one year? His number were pretty good before the thumb injury
Steve Adams
3:35
He's a good-not-great bat that is limited to first base when he's healthy, and he doesn't get on base all that much due to pretty middling walk rates. There's a reason the Rays cut him at a projected $5MM and why he was non-tendered a year later. Teams don't really value that skill set all that highly anymore (see: Jesus Aguilar).

He could end up with the Brewers, White Sox, Rangers, Red Sox or anyone with semi-need at 1B/DH, but it'll be on a pretty low-cost one-year deal.
3:36
Could even return to the Twins or Rays on a lesser deal, though a new team is likelier.

Would Corey Dickerson fit in left field for Cincy? I believe he is truly undervalued.
Steve Adams
3:37
Sure, I like that fit. And I agree -- Dickerson is better than he gets credit for

If the Twins miss on the Big 3 starters on the market (Cole, Stevie, and Wheels) who's next on their wish list?
Steve Adams
3:37
Ryu, Bumgarner

MCarp to Boston to play 2nd base, while St Louis finally gets David Price?
Steve Adams
3:39
I'm sure Boston would welcome the opportunity to shed two thirds of Price's deal, but the Cards aren't going to be excited by taking on an extra $57MM to get a perhaps deteriorating David Price
Tanner Roark
3:40
I could help two of my former teams, the Reds or the Nats.
Steve Adams
3:41
Sure, but you could help a lot of clubs and the Nats already shipped you off once rather than pay you $10MM+. Back to Cincinnati wouldn't shock me I guess, but seems like they're aiming higher early on.

Is Hader a real possibility for the mets
Steve Adams
3:43
I think a lot is being made of the fact that the Brewers are willing to listen on Hader -- they're generally willing to listen on anyone -- and that the Mets have some obvious bullpen needs. The Mets' system has been gutted, and I don't think the Brewers are going to trade Hader for J.D. Davis when other clubs will be willing to give up multiple pieces that could be near-term options at the big league level.

What kind of spending power does Tampa Bay have this winter? More buy-lows or a splash for once?
Steve Adams
3:46
They have about $70MM projected on the books right now and have never even reached an $80MM opening day payroll (yikes), so I don't think they're going to add a huge piece. I could see them adding a right-handed bat who lingers and is available at a bargain rate (a la Avi Garcia last year).

And hey -- they signed Charlie Morton last year!
Hot Seat Hahn
3:46
Its win or get fired for Hahn this year right?  Who else is a win now or canned scenario?
Steve Adams
3:47
I don't know that we can for sure say that about Hahn, but I generally agree that he needs to put a winner on the field sooner than later. He's in a very similar spot to Klentak (Philly) and Preller (San Diego) in that regard, though the latter two feel a bit more dire to me personally.
Jon
3:48
What about Dallas K to the Twins? Not hearing much about him signing anywhere
Steve Adams
3:49
I'm sure they'll look into him, but he's more of an innings-eating fourth starter than a high-end difference maker at this point. And the Twins' infield defense isn't exactly strong, so signing a guy whose best asset is generating grounders probably isn't the best fit.
Addison Russell
3:50
Who would want me?
Steve Adams
3:50
No one?
Freddie Patek
3:50
Should the Yankees attempt to extend Paxton?
Steve Adams
3:51
I'd certainly look into it. He handled things pretty well and was clearly their best starter this season, and next year's free-agent market isn't great.

3:52
Has the Cano-Diaz trade surpassed the Shelby Miller trade as the worst trade of the decade?
Steve Adams
3:52
It's pretty brutal, but don't sleep on Archer/Cole/Glasnow

Archer/Meadows/Glasnow
