For the record -- Cano/Diaz gets my vote. Cano is an immovable asset, and the money the Mets took on is already weighing them down.

I pitch well in Milwaukee...will I be in their rotation next year?
Steve Adams
3:55
Seems like a perfectly reasonable fit. I wonder if another team won't offer more on some kind of smallish two-year deal though.
Tom
3:56
Possibility of Reds trading for Marte and signing Wheeler?
Steve Adams
3:56
Of doing both? Under 5%? You can't realistically bank on them doing either given the level of competition they'll face for each player.
Terry

Explain why Wheeler is better than Ryu. They both have pitched in the same number of games in six years. Wheeler's stuff will decline with age where Ryu's won't. And Ryu's career ERA is better than any season Wheeler has had...
Steve Adams
3:57
Wheeler is more than three years younger and has been more durable recently than Ryu
Primarily, it's the age though.
3:58
On a per-inning basis, Ryu is arguably the third-best arm on the market, but he'll be 33 next spring and has a massive injury history
SF giants

Thoughts on Pillar? He was the best player last season.
Steve Adams
4:01
Kevin Pillar had a .287 OBP last season. I don't get why it was a surprise, at all, to see him non-tendered. I don't think he was the Giants' best player last year (Bumgarner) and he might not've been among their five best (Smith, Samardzija, Longoria) ... ok maybe their fifth-best
Braves
4:01
Is Ender a burden in trade discussions?
Steve Adams
4:03
He plays consistently good defense, runs well and isn't a zero with the bat -- even if he's below average. Honestly, the level of vitriol against him among Braves fans is a little puzzling to me. I don't think he's an amazing trade asset, but he's not really overpaid and is certainly useful.

How could you forget Mike Yaz?
Steve Adams
4:03
There's another good Giant in 2019!
4:04
(Also, yes, better than Pillar this past year -- apologies Yaz)

What are the chances I trade Joc Pederson?  If so, how robust of a market exists?
Steve Adams
4:05
I think Pederson's gone this winter. Reds, White Sox, Cardinals, Braves, Indians all make varying levels of sense to me.
Kismet Kid
4:06
Is Madrigal up to start the season?  Or do the White Sox string him out for contract reasons?
Steve Adams
4:07
They'd only need to keep him down for three weeks to buy an extra season of control, so barring some Eloy/Kingery/Evan White-ish extension, I think he'll start in Triple-A.
Adam Steveson
4:08
mets take a look at joc?
Steve Adams
4:09
Already have a lot of OFs there
4:10
Plus he's going to make $8MM+ and their payroll restrictions have been pretty apparent for awhile now

Chances the Brewers are clearing payroll to make a run at one of the top 5 starting pitchers on the market?
Steve Adams
4:11
I doubt it. The Brewers operate on a pretty value-based level, and unless one of those pitchers isn't finding offers to his liking and suddenly decides he wants a one-year deal (as with Grandal), the Brewers aren't likely to win an auction for a top starter
SP swap
4:12
David Price for Jake Arrieta? Sox save money this year and get out of 2/64, Phils get much needed lefty as a #2/3 with upside.
Steve Adams
4:12
No way the Phils take on two extra years there
Rick Hahn
4:13
Lots of Joc chat but I’m interested in what kind of package it would take to get him
Steve Adams
4:14
I don't think the price would be huge -- some immediate bullpen help and a quasi-interesting prospect? He's a pretty clear platoon guy with a decent salary and only one year of club control remaining.
Dodgers
4:15
It should take two legit prospects for Joc
Steve Adams
4:17
There are tons of alternatives on the market, he's never hit lefties and is a free agent in a year. If the asking price for Pederson is a pair of "legit" prospects, just go sign Corey Dickerson.

Depends on your definition of "legit" I suppose ... Two guys from the 15-30 range of a decent farm? Sure. Two of an org's five best or something? No way.
Price
4:18
Price to Minnesota with cash to make Price a Three year 75 mill at 25 mill per season?  What would that cost Minnesota?
Steve Adams
4:19
If the Twins were willing to pay Price 3/75, they could just have him at that rate and the Red Sox would give him away. But imagine Price as a FA right now ... no one is going anywhere near him at $75MM
Chipper
4:20
Atlanta can only get 1 starter.  Which would you choose Hamels, Wheeler, MadBum or Keuchel?
Steve Adams
4:20
Is money not an object here? Wheeler, easily, for me.
4:22
Ok, I've got to wrap this up. I'm on Twitter @Adams_Steve. We'll do it again next Tuesday! I'll bug Jeff to chat on Friday. Mark chats Sunday. Connor next Monday.

Have a good week everyone!
