What is Arizona looking for in a corbin deal
Steve Adams
3:58
To be clear, I don't know that the D-backs are actively shopping Corbin or anything -- he just makes plenty of sense as an on-paper trade candidate. Free agent next year with a pretty notable arb projection ($8MM+)... they have a noted payroll crunch and could flip him for a controllable bullpen piece that could help the big league roster right away, then pursue additional SP depth on the cheap. It's not a perfect scenario, but I do think there's some logic to it.

Do the Indians give me a rotation job or do I have trade value and will be dealt
Steve Adams
3:58
Won't be getting a rotation job... strikes me mostly as a classic depth arm. I don't think anyone's going to fall over themselves for a chance to acquire Merritt.

Abreu to the Cardinals or Rockies are better fits than the Red Sox. Agree?
Steve Adams
4:00
He'd fit with any of the three. I know some Boston reporters -- Evan Drellich in particular, who is great -- were downplaying the idea of acquiring Abreu as an upgrade at all given the supply of 1Bs in free agency. But there's no one in free agency I'd consider as much of a lock to put up a 125 wRC+ (or better) as I consider Abreu to be. Outside of Stanton and JDM, he's the best available bat you can add.

Only 1 top 50 signing as of Dec. 5th. Stanton, Ohtani, or hardballing owners?
Steve Adams
4:01
Two! (Three if you count Minor, though he's not official yet).

It's a combination of a lot of things, but I agree with Jeff Passan and Jerry Crasnick that the "Stanton/Ohtani holdup" is just a convenient narrtive.

What are the Red Sox gonna do if JDM goes to STL?
Steve Adams
4:01
Probably sign Hosmer (ew) or trade for Abreu

Is Randy Grichuk + Mike Mayers going to be a nice package for my leet closing services?
Steve Adams
4:02
Do not think that'd get it done, no.
Nebraska Tim
4:03
Where do you see Lorenzo Cain signing?
Steve Adams
4:04
I have him to the Mariners at this point, but it's little more than a guess based on need, the profile of player that Dipoto & Co. like,... scout that drafted Cain is now in a prominent role with Seattle, too, though that doesn't necessariy mean a ton.

Would Reds make sense for Duffy? If Royals decide to rebuild I could see the Reds wanting a young controllable and proven starter.
Steve Adams
4:06
It's too much of a win-now move for the Reds. Duffy might be controlled for 4 years, but they'd be punting at least year one of his deal. I don't see the Reds doing much of anything in terms of significant on-field improvements for the 2018 roster. They need to see more positive signs out of their younger arms than they did in '17

I think Othani is a lot of hype, potential for big flop, agree??
Steve Adams
4:09
I think the only reason anyone would say that is because they're tired of him being played up in the media. The fact is that MLB scouts have been salivating over the guy for 4-5 years, and every single team in baseball wants him. He'd make $200MM+ on the open market right now. I see so many "Ugh this guy is so overrated -- never even played in MLB" replies on Twitter and I just laugh. The media does overhype some guys well, well beyond industry perception (shout out to Lazaro Armenteros), but Ohtani is not that.

Could he flop? Sure. Any young player could. Doesn't mean we should expect it when teams are pretty much universally sold on him as a generational talent.

Should I continue to be patient or should I work to build on a better than expected year and spend on free agents to try to compete for the division or a Wild Card?
Steve Adams
4:10
Brewers should be adding pieces now. Not in an "AT ANY COST" type of manner... I'm not saying give 7/175 to Darvish or anything, but their window is opening, the payroll outlook is good... I say go for it.

Where do you think Dyson ends up? Would love to see him back at Safeco.
Steve Adams
4:13
If he's looking at a one-year deal, perhaps yeah. But if he's going for multiple years, I can see the M's wanting more certainty. Again, I like the Cain fit there, not that those two are comparable in terms of asking price. (Not by a long shot)

Piscotty in green and gold just makes sense doesn’t it?
Steve Adams
4:16
It does make a lot of sense to me. They're talked about him in the past, he fits the RHH corner OF profile with several years of control that they're seeking
4:18
Sorry now attempting to juggle multiple things as I gear toward wrapping this up -- I'll take a few more minutes of rapid fire questions, so fire off some with quick answers and then I'll duck out for the week

4:18
Whose most likely to be dealt in offseason tommy Joseph, Freddy galvis or cesar Hernandez ?
Steve Adams
4:19
Probably Galvis. Joseph has no value and there's no rush on Hernandez.

Are the Yankees a viable option for Moustakas?
Steve Adams
4:19
Nah -- they're not going over the lux tax and have boatloads of 3B options. Headley, Torres, Andujar
Zac
4:19
Michael Fulmer still with the Tigers this time next year?
Steve Adams
4:20
If he's healthy and has a good first half, I'd say there's a decent chance they move him in the summer.
Curt
4:20
Who signs Darish?
Steve Adams
4:20
It feels really weird to predict the Twins here, but that's what I'm doing.
Rob C.
4:20
Where does Stanton land?
Steve Adams
4:20
Guess: Cardinals.
Darren
4:21
Does Ian Kinsler get traded and where?
Steve Adams
4:21
Yeah he'll get moved. Since I'm randomly guessing at a ton of crap anyway, let's say Angels.
Matt klentak
4:21
What can I offer for Corbin.  I’m interested
Steve Adams
4:22
Why are the Phillies dealing for guys with one remaining year of control? If it's a buy-low reclamation project, sure, but Corbin isn't that. Look elsewhere.
