Good first impression eh? ROY candidate?
Steve Adams
4:57
As long as he's called up early enough in the season, I expect him to be in that race yeah
Jake
4:57
Who wins the AL west
Steve Adams
4:57
Still the Astros

I don't really understand why the Dodgers seemed to be selling so low on Pederson, and especially Stripling, who has value to any team as a starter or swing man. But, whatever the case was, I doubt the Dodgers sell low on either, so all the teams' fans dreaming of stealing either player for a song might want to wish on some other star.
Steve Adams
4:59
There's no way to say they were selling low when we only know one of the players the Angels were planning to send to the Dodgers. I agree that the Dodgers aren't going to just dump either player in a trade, though

Do the Reds have enough to win the central
Steve Adams
5:00
I can see any of the Reds, Cardinals, Brewers and Cubs winning the NL Central this year, yeah. Cincinnati's in the mix in what should be a pretty closely contested division.

How do I get a question to show up in this chat? Adell, Franco, or Robert bigger year this year?
Steve Adams
5:02
By blindly lucking into me picking it! There are hundreds of people asking questions at the moment, haha... can't possibly get to them all, sorry.

I'd take Luis Robert of the bunch, just because he'll be in the big leagues all season. I doubt Wander Franco sees the Majors in 2020
Rays to beat NYY
5:02
Can Tampa make a move that’ll push them past NYY with the fall of Severino
Steve Adams
5:03
Teams don't really make reactionary moves like that these days -- particularly not the game's most cost-efficient and data-driven clubs.

It seems Matt Olsen is a better hitter than Matt Chapman, in almost all categorías, yet Chapman gets more attention. Why?
Steve Adams
5:05
Chapman gets more attention because he's one of the best -- if not the best -- defensive third basemen in the game. He's a better all-around player even if Olson is a bit better offensively

If kieboom doesn’t work out then what?
Steve Adams
5:08
More playing time for Asdrubal and then explore the summer trade market for 3B options. Bryant, Arenado could be out there again. (Arenado almost certainly)

Other options I can see popping up on the market: Longoria, Niko Goodrum, one of Urshela/Andujar, Todd Frazier, Kyle Seager

What do you think about Dylan Carlson?  I want to be excited but Fangraphs sure isn't ...
Steve Adams
5:10
Eric Longenhagen has him ranked as the No. 39 prospect in MLB over at FanGraphs. That seems pretty excited.

I don't have much reason to doubt that he's a quality regular in the making

5:10
Fantasy baseball dynasty keeper question: Jo Adell or Wando Franco
Steve Adams
5:11
I'd take Franco in the long term, but keeping him over Adell hurts in 2020 since Adell should see plenty of big league time this year.
Danny Salazar
5:11
Would I be a good option for the Yankees?
Steve Adams
5:12
He's thrown 4 innings in the past two seasons. There's no way you can expect him to handle any kind of rotation workload at this point. And if he were fully healthy I have to imagine he'd have signed by now.
Biggest haul?
5:13
Any rebuilders you believe will make a (relatively) big trade to stir up the preseason
Steve Adams
5:13
I don't expect anything too major before Opening Day

Will moving to the NL boost Price's production?
Steve Adams
5:14
It should -- so should playing in front of the defense that led MLB with 136 DRS in 2019.

5:15
Odds of the Red Sox getting a Wild Card this offseason?
Steve Adams
5:18
Better than most people think, probably. It's easy to want to write them off after trading Betts, but they still have a lineup that's going to have Bogaerts, Devers and JDM in the middle. Benintendi should have a better season. If they get better health out of Sale and Eovaldi, they're still a solid team.

They could really use some help at the back of that rotation, though.

Would Semien FA contract AAV be over 20M?
Steve Adams
5:18
Absolutely.
5:20
When we were kicking around numbers for Tim's first edition of the 2020-21 FA Power Rankings, 6/150 came up. I'm not quite there, but if he posts another 4-6 WAR season, yeah he'll be looking for six years at more than 20 per

5:21
Whose rebuild sees success first- Marlins or Orioles?  And which do you think will be better long term?
Steve Adams
5:23
Marlins are further along in theirs. It's hard to say who'll have more success because we haven't seen how willing the Sherman/Jeter group is to spend in order to supplement the core they're growing.

For that matter, we don't know how John and Lou Angelos will be willing to spend either; their role in ownership has increased as their father's has decreased in recent seasons.

I mean lets be honest, i get the slow market for Puig but we should be giving him something, playing him everyday becasue he would be better than what we currently have, and then at the deadline trade him for a DECENT prospect. Why not
Steve Adams
5:25
Completely agree that they should sign Puig. Sell some merch, give fans something to be excited about, improve the club a little bit.

But the Orioles dumped their best player from 2019 (Villar) and signed Jose Iglesias to replace him at a third of the price because they're more focused on getting the No. 1 pick in 2021 than on winning games right now. They're not going to spend on Puig.

Is this year's batch of Twins' starters really any better than last year's?
Steve Adams
5:26
A healthy Rich Hill would make the top end better, yeah. But on the whole, the group isn't demonstrably better, which is why I expect that they'll be in on any high-end starters who emerge on the summer trade market

Rhys Hoskins for Robbie Ray?  Bohm looks like a first baseman to me
Steve Adams

Phils aren't dealing Hoskins for one year of Ray

Will the Astros be booed for years to come?
