They will be in 2020 at the very least.
Theo

The Red Sox finished 12 games back of the wild card last year WITH all the guys you mentioned and Betts and Price. And the potential AL Wild Card teams have mostly improved this offseason
Steve Adams
5:30
Only got 147 IP out of Sale (and not at 100% obviously) and 67 out of Eovaldi. Those two being healthier and some positive regression for Benintendi would make them a better club than they're getting credit for.

I'm not calling them a Wild Card favorite -- just suggesting that with some good health for their top arms, they're a better team than most give them credit for being.
Jake

Puig will go to the Pittsburgh Pirates
Steve Adams
5:31
Would also love that -- but doubt it. If you're any cellar-dwelling team with a middling OF mix, go ahead and sign him, I say.
Jake Lamb
5:31
If Kieboom doesn't work out, could I be on the list for the Nationals?
Steve Adams
5:32
Sure -- if the shoulder is healthy. They've got Escobar as a 3B option and Christian Walker had a nice 2019 at 1B.
Mike
5:33
Any word on when the Red Sox investigation will end?
Steve Adams
5:33
Most reports have suggested by the end of the month -- so... this week?
T-Mobile
5:33
Tried the garlic fries at Safeco/T-Mobile? Better or worse than Ichi-rolls?
Steve Adams
5:33
I have had the garlic fries -- not the Ichi-rolls. That's a thing?

Do I lose points with Mariners fans for saying I liked the garlic fries at AT&T/Oracle better? Haha
AA
5:35
Am I crazy to think Dansby Swanson can be .280 20 homers this year with good defense?
Steve Adams
5:35
Probably a bit optimistic but not full-on crazy, no. You're not crowning him NL batting champ and giving him 35 homers or anything!
Garlic fries
5:36
Why do you hate the Mariners?
Steve Adams
5:36
DANG IT
Estevao
5:37
Kershaw's decline involved a 130 ERA+ season. How many pitchers have a career average close to that?
Steve Adams
5:38
Yeah -- if "declining" is posting a 3.03 ERA in the year of the juiced ball bonanza, that's not a bad way to "decline"
Stevo
5:38
Trout more likely to be top 5 players of all time or to not make it into HOF by the time he is retired?
Steve Adams
5:38
Trout could retire tomorrow and go into the Hall
5:39
(Top 5 all-time, to answer your question more directly)

Is Evan White REALLY ready to be our everyday 1st baseman? I feel like he should at least have a stop at triple A.
Steve Adams
5:41
Seems that way. He would hardly be the first prospect to (mostly) skip Triple-A, and his numbers in Double-A last year are better than they look considering what a pitcher-friendly environment that is. His .293/.350/.488 was 32 percent better than league average, and he's constantly referenced as one of the best-fielding 1Bs on the planet
Adam
5:42
Will the rangers pick up a 3rd basemen orate they gunna stick with what they have?
Steve Adams
5:42
I'd expect Frazier to get the majority of the time there
Nick Solak
5:43
Not if i have anything to say about it
Steve Adams
5:43
Rangers are going to try to put Solak in CF
Jackson
5:43
would Bauer be a good fit on the angels? What would they have to give up to get him?
Steve Adams
5:43
No reason for the Reds to deal him when they're trying to contend themselves
Redwood
5:44
Who get's Astros 4th and 5th starting pitching jobs?
Steve Adams
5:45
It'll be Verlander, Greinke, McCullers, Jose Urquidy in the top four ... I'm guessing Austin Pruitt gets the five spot.
Mychal
5:45
Will any members of the current O's pitching staff be on their next playoff team?
Steve Adams
5:46
I highly doubt it.
Yasi Puig
5:46
I have an exclusive for you! I'm retired!
Steve Adams
5:46
You guys heard it here first!
Heinie Manush
5:47
If you could pick any 3 outfielders right now to start on your team, who would it be?  Trout, Yelich and Bellinger?
Steve Adams
5:48
I might swap Yelich for Mookie if only because of minor concerns about the knee. Hard not to have Betts in there somewhere. But it'd be a mix of those four anyway
Lindor
5:49
Do I get traded before the deadline this year?
Steve Adams
5:49
I think next winter is likelier. I mean, if the Indians are unexpectedly just terrible and 15 games out by July, then sure this summer. But I'm not expecting that to be the case.
Acuna not top 3
5:50
Whaaaa?
Steve Adams
5:51
If we're talking long-term, I'd put him in there because of his age. But I don't think it's a crazy controversial take to go Trout, Yelich, Bellinger and Betts ahead of him for 2020 alone. (Plus, Acuna would probably be my fifth pick anyway!)
