Chat with MLBTR's Steve Adams: 2/27/24

That's an absolute best-case scenario. I don't think any fan should ever have much optimism regarding a pitcher with any sort of UCL injury. Bradish is throwing from (I think) 50-90 feet right now, which is perhaps a good sign, but that's wildly different than throwing max effort off a mound.

Do you think Brandon Belt may just retire at this point?

He hit well against righties last year. I don't see any reason to think he wouldn't be able to sign with a team for the upcoming season, unless there's some kind of offseason injury he hasn't made public.
Montgomery prediction?

Please?

I think he'll end up in Boston ultimately, probably at a lesser guarantee than many expected entering the offseason. The MLBTR staff made new predictions for the top remaining FAs yesterday and sent them out to our Front Office subscribers. I went five years and $120MM in Boston for Monty, with a similar opt-out/club option setup to the one Trevor Story has. So after year two or three, Montgomery can opt out but the Sox can void it by tacking on another year at $25MM or so.

If that sort of thing interests you, you can learn more about our Trade Rumors Front Office package and sign up here. In addition to ad-free viewing, you'll get weekly email analysis/opinion columns from Anthony and myself, a weekly mailbag column with Tim Dierkes, weekly fantasy baseball advice from Nicklaus Gaut, a weekly subscriber-only chat with Anthony Franco (where your odds of getting a question answered are much, much higher), access to MLBTR's Contract Tracker and Agency Database, and more. It starts at $2.99/month.
