Any hope that Buster could pull of some blockbuster trade soon? Robert Jr?
Steve Adams
1:30
I wouldn't hold out hope for any team making a blockbuster trade before Opening Day
1:31
Brad Keller made the Cubs' roster, Cubs just announced

After seeing Isaac Paredes hit a first row crawford box home run yesterday that probably went like 330 feet, could we see one of the biggest xWOBA - WOBA descrepencies in baseball history? Paredes could hit 20 homers at Daikin all being under 350ft
Steve Adams
1:33
Not sure there's a better match of swing+perfect home environment in MLB than Paredes+Houston. He ranked third in MLB in terms of pull rate in 2024, and he had the fourth-highest fly-ball percentage on pulled balls as well.
1:34
Paredes is a dead-pull, extreme fly-ball hitter with above-average raw power. It's a match made in heaven.

Why do the Orioles hate Kjerstad?
Steve Adams
1:35
I don't get their habitual refusal to just give him a regular role. I'm admittedly not the biggest Kjerstad believer, but at some point you have to give him a chance. He's 26 already and they seem determined to continue making moves to reduce his avenue to playing time.
1:36
I honestly thought once they signed O'Neill they were going to trade Kjerstad for a rotation upgrade
Defies explanation
1:36
I guess it defies explanation...Rockies trade young OF and then with a straight face tell us that a 34 year old NRI is going to take his place instead of an actual prospect who has spent four years in the minors.
Steve Adams
1:38
Most of the things the Rockies do defy explanation under conventional wisdom. That said, I don't read Nick Martini being selected as "Nick Martini is going to play LF for us all year." I'm sure he'll get some at-bats early, but Veen, Fernandez and others will all come into play eventually.

Even if I didn't to enough in the offseason to recapture the NL East, I'm confident that the Braves are the favorites to win the division. Do you agree?
Steve Adams
1:38
I don't know if they're the "favorites," since I think they're tightly bunched with Philly and New York, but they're certainly talented enough to do so. I think it'll be a close race.
Tom Kelly's blues
1:39
Kyle Gibson will throw 160 innings of mid 4 ERA and show lots of teams they were wrong to wait.
Steve Adams
1:39
They're keeping him in AAA to build up until late April, so I'll take the under on 160 innings, but in general I agree that he should've been signed sooner than he was.

Who are the prize FA next offseason?
Steve Adams
1:40
Vlad, Kyle Tucker, Dylan Cease, Michael King, Munetaka Murakami (assuming he's posted)
1:41
Full list (sans Murakami, at least until he's posted):

Who do you think is the odd man out in Houston's rotation when Lance McCullers comes back?
Steve Adams
1:42
It seems presumptive to think everyone will be healthy and that McCullers will get back to the point where he's ready to join the rotation, but if it does reach that point, I imagine it'll be whoever's performing worse between Wesneski and Arrighetti.

Does Matthew Lugo really have more to offer than Mickey Moniak?
Steve Adams
1:43
I was surprised the Angels even tendered Moniak a contract in November

1:43
Again, Can someone please explain why the Yankees or Mets haven't signed Bauer?  if he stinks or has an off-field issue, they could just DFA him.... isnt the upside too good to not take a shot???
Steve Adams
1:44
Semi-monthly reminder that Bauer has been broadcasting a willingness to pitch for the minimum for three years, and every team has said "Nope, no thanks."
He's not going to get signed.
Dark Horse
1:45
What team do you think will exceed expectations this year that no one is talking about?
Steve Adams
1:46
A's are better than most people give them credit for. Lot of people seem to have written off the Twins in the AL Central after their late collapse. The Blue Jays are talented enough to win the AL East if Bichette bounce back and if Vlad can be close to his 2024 form
Swing Ballpark
1:47
Cody Bellinger's swing was built for Yankee Stadium.
Steve Adams
1:48
He's tied with Paredes for percentage of pulled balls that are classified as fly-balls -- but he pull the ball a lot less than Paredes in general and hits the ball up the middle at a pretty high rate.

It's a good match, for sure, but Daikin Park (formerly Minute Maid) is a purer match with Paredes, I think

Darkhorse AL Cy Young: Gavin "the Big Rig" Williams?
Steve Adams
1:50
I see all the buzz as well, but he pitched all of 93 innings last year. Need to see him carry this over to the regular season and also need him to pitch something like 70 more innings than he did in '24 ... which is a lot, for a guy who has never reached 150 innings in any professional season
He's a fine darkhorse though, sure.
1:51
(That sounded sarcastic -- it was not. He's a fine darkhorse, but I think I could find some I like better is all I was implying)
Midwest Padre Fan

Where is Eguy Rosario going? He could be a very useful bench piece, especially against lefties. Padres didn't put him on the OD roster, and he's out of options.
Steve Adams
1:52
Complete speculation: Tigers, Yankees, Blue Jays all seem like decent fits.
Cubs
1:52
Did we get fleeced sending Belli out for nothing and getting Tucker for Cam Smith?  Would’ve been better keeping everyone…
Steve Adams
1:53
Tucker has 2500 plate appearances telling us he's one of the best hitters in the game. The panic over 35 spring plate appearances is wild to me.

1:53
If they are so inclined doesn't BAL have the farm to beat any other team trade offer for me?
Steve Adams
1:54
The Orioles' farm is nowhere near as strong as it once was. Baseball America has them 17th in the game. MLB.com has them 15th.
Tyler Black

Vinny Capra really got a roster spot over me?! All the bloom is off my prospect rose eh?
