I just don't think they want Black playing 3B and see him as a 1B, which is currently filled by Hoskins

We know LAD will win, but who’s in second place? I say Giants have a shot with the Padres team in flux now.

I have the D-backs second

How do YOU see the AL Central finishing this season ?
Steve Adams

I think the Twins, Tigers, Guardians and Royals are all reasonably projectable within 4-5 games of one another, so it's dependent on health, depth, etc.

We're doing staff picks and I'm picking the Twins, but I had the Tigers for a good while. Their OF injuries are kind of worrisome, though.

Realistically, health and deadline activity are going to be extremely important to that outcome. Ditto the AL East, which is maybe even more tightly bunched.

Will Profar exceed his production from last year?
Steve Adams

I don't see how anyone could project that with real confidence. I imagine when the dust settles, 2024 will be the best season of his entire career.

Does Foley close, or is it Brieske?
Steve Adams

I doubt the Tigers and AJ Hinch are going to have a set closer. Those two, Holton and probably some others will all get looks depending on matchup, situation, etc.

6/105 a pretty good compromise? If everything had gone right for me the next couple years I get more on the open market, but... That's kind of why these extensions exist. M's take on some risk and I get some security at the cost of some $$$ down the road.

If Raleigh had kept on his current pace, he'd have crushed 105 in free agency, but like you said -- that's a lot of years to stay healthy/productive while playing the game's most-demanding position. I think it's a fine deal for both parties
Roster Resource

about 40 percent of the (projected) Opening Day roster for the defending American League champions is comprised of new players.  4 regulars are gone.  Have you ever seen such turnover on a World Series team before
Steve Adams

Marlins won a World Series and had traded everyone within a few years

Tellez is a better option than either Mitch's?
Steve Adams

Mariners sure think so. I believe Garver can bounce back, but Haniger ... oof. Injuries have really diminished him. I'd go Rowdy over Haniger, yes.

Predictions for Alonso's next venture into free agency this coming offseason? Fair to say he's a lock to opt out? Will his market be similar to this year and he takes a short term deal with opt outs? Or will more teams be interested with no draft pick attached? Mets give him a multi year deal before he hits FA?
Steve Adams
2:08
Entirely dependent on his season. I don't think he's a "lock" to opt out, no, though I do consider that the likely outcome. With a good enough year, he still has a chance at a nine-figure deal, but the arrow has been pointing down a couple seasons now. It's a pretty wide range of outcome at the moment.

which of the 4 stud SP the M's have is most likely to sign an extention?
Steve Adams

Bryan Woo is the furthest from the open market and, historically speaking, has an agency that tends to be pretty open to extensions (Apex). In general, I think the whole "which agents do extensions" bit is somewhat overblown. Even Boras guys sign extensions sometimes. But if you were asking me to pick, I guess I'd narrowly lean Woo for those reasons.
