Is the Brewers' rotation really as weak as it looks on paper?
Steve Adams

Not gonna find too many bigger Corbin Burnes believers than me. I think it's better than most people expect it to be even besides him, though.

Will I ever pitch in MLB again?
Steve Adams
5:27
I highly doubt it.

Sorry, phone rang.
I have time for a couple more.
Just my opinion

I’m confused on the redsox situation with Leon.. from conflicting reports, since he accepted to go to the minors does his salary count against the luxury tax or not? If it does was this move only to get him into the minors and off the 40 man roster could the Sox have offered him a new contract fir the sane amount if he didn’t accept to save that money from the tax?

The move does count against the luxury tax. Boston's Rusney Castillo situation is the driving force behind that. Castillo is basically trapped in AAA forever because the Sox will never let him come up to the Majors and take that luxury hit. Largely because of that, the new CBA counts outrighted players toward tax purposes so guys aren't stuck in AAA and unable to get a look elsewhere because they took a good contract.

The move was done to remove him from the 40-man roster because he's out of options, plain and simple.

They didn't want to carry three catchers. They chose Swihart over Leon, waived Leon. I'm sure they hoped someone would claim him, thus sparing them the salary, but they've been trying to trade him and knew interest was minimal at that price point.

Any chance Dan Straily returns to the A's; they could use the depth. Thanks for the chat!

I can see it, but I can see Straily plausibly latching on with upwards of a dozen teams.

Why did I pick up Lucas Duda when I've already got 1B/ DH types on the roster?  What about picking up another bullpen piece- like Matt Whistler now that he's been placed on waivers?

(Royals GM Dayton Moore)

Frankly, I don't know why Duda was the preferred choice. There were more intriguing players, though they know Duda from last year and maybe wanted another veteran in the clubhouse.

As far as pitching depth, I wouldn't get excited about Wisler at this point. There are much more appealing arms who haven't failed repeatedly over 3-4 consecutive MLB seasons.

Ok, I have to wrap up for the week. I'm on Twitter @Adams_Steve. Jeff will chat Thursday. Mark on Sunday. Tim next Monday.

Enjoy Opening Day!
