He'll face some tougher competition than he did in his Central-only schedule last year, but I'm a general believer in the strides he took.

Will Gallo be traded before the deadline?
Steve Adams
2:59
I think he'll be out there, yeah. Whether he's actually moved depends on the offers they receive. They're not just going to dump him for the best offer available, period.

Remember when the Sale trade looked really bad for the CWS
Steve Adams
3:00
I think it only looked "bad" to those who expect every prospect to immediately be great upon reaching the majors.
3:01
Takes most guys some time. Objectively speaking, getting Kopech and Moncada out of the Red Sox system was a nice haul -- a pair of near-MLB top-25 or so prospects.

They might still never get superstar performances from Moncada and/or Kopech over the long haul, and I would still say they got a reasonable return.

When do the Cards realize the addition of Arenado alone was not enough?  I too have picked the Brewers to win the NL Central
Steve Adams
3:04
I'm not saying that because I picked the Brewers the Cardinals are implausible to win, though. It'll be a close race. And adding Arenado may well have been sufficient ... if they hadn't lost Mikolas, Kim (for a bit) and Bader before camp broke. (I know many Cardinals fans hate Bader, but the glove alone is valuable, and the offense just hasn't been *that* bad ... though obviously, yes, it is not great)

Ae you disappointed with the direction the "comments" sections have taken? Used to be a great place to swap stories and info... Pretty snarky and negative anymore.
Steve Adams
3:04
Yes, but that's also just the Internet as a whole for the most part. People have lost the ability to be civil as hot takes and anonymous insults have won the day.

A's starting pitchers best in the AL west?
Steve Adams
3:07
AL West rotations in general aren't exactly powerhouses. I think Luzardo/Bassitt/Manaea/Montas is as talented as any top four in the division though -- at least now that Framber Valdez is out indefinitely.

How bad do Rockies have to be to get some management changes soon?
Steve Adams
3:08
Hard to be much worse than they've been already. Dick Monfort is loyal and also probably more of a problem than the team's front office.

Will Rick Porcello ever pitch again???
Steve Adams
3:09
Still surprised he hasn't landed somewhere. I wonder if he's fully healthy or even pursuing a deal. His agency isn't exactly known for going out and loudly making cases for its clients though. They're generally among the quieter shops when it comes to drumming up media attention for their guys.

we have a season! after 62 years I've never been more of a fan
Steve Adams

But I was told that baseball is dying and the current product is unwatchable

Who gets more undeserved flak from their own fan base: JD Davis or Harrison Bader?
Steve Adams
3:10
Jeez, there's a toss-up.

Is this Buster Posey’s last season in a Giants uniform?
Steve Adams
3:11
I think there's a pretty decent chance of that. They have two high-end prospects in Bart and Bailey. It'll depend somewhat on how Posey hits in 2021 and on how Bart bounces back from 2020. If Bart flounders in the upper minors and Buster has a rebound year, they might bring him back.

I read often from sportswriters about how fans don't understand that's only fair that Lindor (or similarly awesome player) should get a $400 million contract. Well, I'll stop caring about overpaid players when a beer doesn't cost $10 at the ballpark.
Steve Adams
3:12
The Pirates' entire payroll is $45MM, and they're still charging $10 a beer. Are your beers $5 apiece at NHL games where there's a salary cap?
3:13
There's no correlation between player salary and ticket/concession prices. Owners jack up the prices because the market has shown it will meet the ask.
Bryce Harper and Alex Rodriguez signed for the same $25MM annual salary two decades apart. I'll bet beers were cheaper back in 2000 though.

I'm surprised Jedd Gyorko hasn't signed yet.

Ditto.

Who takes home the last Silver Slugger for a pitcher?
Steve Adams
3:14
Michael Lorenzen?

Would Odor make some sense for the Cubs?  Could be better than Duffy or Sogard and up the middle D will be critical given their staff pitches to soft contact.
Steve Adams
3:16
Nothing about Rougned Odor's last four years suggest he'll be an upgrade for any team. He'll probably sign somewhere, but I don't see any appeal there.
3:18
Alrighty, I've got to wrap this up for the week. Thanks, as always, for chatting. We've got a subscriber chat lined up Friday at 2pm. Mark will chat over the weekend. I'll be back next week around this same time. I'm on Twitter @Adams_Steve for any of the many, many questions I couldn't get to! Have a great week everyone.
