If that type of package would've gotten Cease, he'd have been traded months ago.

Say something nice about Christopher Morel on your way out please
Steve Adams
2:04
Chris Morel can hit tanks

2:04
Have any mutual options ever been picked up?
Steve Adams
2:04
Not a lot. I remember Aramis Ramirez and the Brewers picking up a mutual option for his final season. The Rockies and Matt Belisle did as well at one point.
2:05
Those are literally the only two I can remember. And I've been doing this full time since 2013.
Alonso
2:05
What's the advantage to the Mets for letting him test FA?
Steve Adams
2:06
There isn't one. But Alonso is a Boras-repped star who's a year from free agency. That doesn't explicitly mean he won't sign an extension -- Strasburg and Bogaerts were Boras guys who signed extensions at this same juncture -- but history says that's the likely route.

do you miss the Jo Adell trade suggestions?
Steve Adams
2:07
Nah I get a bunch of them every week, I just stopped publishing them after years of being asked the same thing. It's Joey Bart SZN for unrealistic former prospect trade scenarios now.
Angel Dave
2:09
Could Rendon get traded along with  a prospect to shed his salary?
Steve Adams
2:09
He's owed $114MM over the next three years.
I don't think teams are dropping $114MM to acquire a prospect, no.

Did you just get a bunch of Jo Adell requests after you said that?
Steve Adams
2:10
Of course
And lots of "what about Jo Adell for Joey Bart, though?!?!?!?"
Angel Rotation
2:11
Angels trying Soriano and Wantz as starters. Could they not be in market for starter? Arte may just sit out big spending this winter.
Steve Adams
2:11
Arte Moreno doesn't like multi-year deals for pitchers. The Angels could/should sign one of Monty or Snell, but it'd require the front office convincing Moreno to give out the kind of contract he's avoided for more than a decade now.

Are the yankees truly in the race for snell? They seem to be linked to him for over a month? What do you guys think about snell to the yankees?
Steve Adams
2:12
Every time I've written about Snell/Yankees for the past month, I've explained why i find it highly unlikely.

Do the Twins have to shed an infielder to make room for Brooks Lee? He's starting to look too good to stay in AAA but the infield is kind of a logjam right now
Steve Adams
2:16
Imagine the eventual alignment has more Julien at 1B/DH. Lee can play 2B and can also fill in at SS/3B as needed. Most teams don't view having "too many guys" to be an issue. The Rays and Dodgers do this every year. The Reds are going to have like seven infielders rotating around this year.

I doubt the Twins care much that they don't have a clear everyday spot for Lee to man. If he can get 300 ABs at 2B, 100 at SS, 100 at 3B, 50 at DH, etc. -- they'd be fine with that.

Ok... I've got to wrap up for the week. Sorry, as always, for all the questions I can't get to. This is a slow-ish time of year for these chats and we were still over 1000 participants at various points today.
