BARTOLO 4 EVER
John Lackey

Am I done? Or will someone being calling me soon?
Steve Adams
3:54
He's a guy I can't see taking a minor league deal, so perhaps he'll just call it a career if he doesn't get a big league offer soon. I'm sure he'd go to AAA to get up to speed if someone offered him a MLB deal and a rotation spot, but without that promise, I don't know.

I lean against him signing at this point.
Alex

Ricky Nolasco will pitch in the MLB this year, Right?
Steve Adams
3:55
I don't see why someone wouldn't sign him just as Triple-A depth. I mean, even though he stunk there last year, the Angels could use him with two arms already down and not much upper minors depth.

Am I crazy in thinking Luke Weaver can be better than Carlos Martinez?
Steve Adams
3:56
I don't think you're crazy. I think Martinez is and will continue to be better, but Weaver is one of the more impressive young starters in the league and should be a solid #2 behind him, for lack of a better term. (I don't love numerical valuations of pitchers' places in the rotation)

Worst farm system in baseball? Cubs? Royals? Mets? Mariners?
Steve Adams
3:57
Mariners -- Mets' system isn't as bad as you're implying here.
Orioles added Luis Sardinas to the 40-man
He's in the lineup tonight

The Angels need an impact arm in their rotation to seriously contend right?
Steve Adams
3:59
Yeah they need to address the rotation. Ohtani looks great, obviously, but he's not accustomed to pitching on an MLB starter's schedule or workload and is coming off a lost season on the mound. And there are too many injury concerns with Richards, Skaggs, Heaney, Tropeano, etc.

I like the talent they have but think they're going to be in the market for a reliable mid-rotation arm this summer.

You mentioned the Astro's GM went on the record saying he doesn't use stats available to the public. Does he use like  specific statistical player splits or something
Steve Adams
4:01
Most organizations have their own proprietary metrics for evaluating players, which is part of the reason that so many clubs are constantly beefing up their data and analytics departments.

Should the twins be worried about Logan Morrison?
Steve Adams
4:02
Morrison was one of the worst hitters on the planet for the first month of the 2016 season and then OPS'ed like .900 with a 130 wRC+ over his final 400 PAs
Derek
4:02
How likely is it that AJ Minter can be even more dominant than Josh Hader?
Steve Adams
4:03
I think it's possible that Minter has better control, though to this point we haven't seen him used in multiple innings as often as Hader.
AJ Preller
4:03
How much of Chase Headley's contract would I have to pay to get someone to take him?
Steve Adams
4:03
I think they'd just release him if/when they wanna move on
Jason
4:03
Adam Ottavino back?
Steve Adams
4:04
What Adam Ottavino has done thus far is one of the most hilariously impressive stretches I can recall seeing for a reliever. 22-to-1 K/BB ratio in 10.2 IP doesn't happen just as a fluke. He's superhuman right now. I'm buying.

Machado and Oday for Flaherty, O’Neil, and Kolten Wong. Could it happen?
Steve Adams
4:05
I don't love O'Neill but I still wouldn't give up him, 6+ years of Flaherty and Wong for a Machado rental.

4:06
Is Preston Tucker a legitimate every day player?
Steve Adams
4:06
I don't think he's close to it, no
Evan
4:07
Isn't it crazy that Joey votto has only one xtra base hit in 2018 including Spring Training
Steve Adams
4:07
Baseball is weird sometimes.
He'll probably have some stretch where he hits like 11 XBHs in 3 games now.
Sabean
4:07
Should I blow this thing up?
Steve Adams
4:08
I think they should've blown it up this offseason. Or at least not gone so aggressively after older talent. Trading Arroyo for Longoria still doesn't make much sense to me.
Yys
4:08
Any chance mets get Wilson ramos now?
Steve Adams
4:08
I like the fit, personally, but he may be too expensive and the Rays probably aren't super interested in paying it down much.

You work for the Twins now, John. C'mon.

4:09
Who's better in your opinion. Mccullers or Snell?
Steve Adams
4:09
Give me McCullers on a per-inning basis, but I'll bet Snell is more consistently able to put up innings.
4:10
McCullers' durability (or lack thereof) is the primary red flag against him for me.
Dwight

Giants have an OF logjam with Williamson, Slater, Duggar and Shaw looming in the minors, and role-players like Gorkys, Blanco and Pence taking up roster spots in the bigs. How will this get cleared up?
