Steve Adams

Pillar clearly wasn't a part of the core at this point.

Do I have the your favorite baseball name? Or is it Rock Shoulders? Rusty Kuntz?
Steve Adams

Socrates is good. Also partial to Brooks Pounders and Buck Farmer
And WARWICK SAUPOLD
Man, the Tigers have had some names.

It'd be a radical change, but do you think MLB should get rid of the arbitration system all together? Have guys sign to long term deal out of the draft like other sports? Would get rid of service time considerations and possibly get more players to FA earlier in their careers. Would also open the chance for players to earn more early on in the careers more than 50k in the minors

Players in other sports sign those deals because they can largely step right out of college ball into the pros. There's no chance of that happening in MLB, which would severely muddy things.

Arbitration needs an overhaul (or they need a wholly new system), but I don't think that's a plausible outcome.
Oh, also on names... the Padres have a mionr league pitcher named Henry Henry

Did anyone claim Mac Williamson yet? Seems like the Giants are wasting an opportunity to see what he's got given a full time role. Granted, he did bad in spring training, but he is at least more of a guarantee than Reed, no?
Steve Adams

I was surprised the Giants designated him, and I think he'll be traded elsewhere or claimed. But there are a lot of people in the org who've seen him, and Zaidi has seen him extensively within the division. It seems like the organization just was ready to move on. Reed was only ever a short-term plugin anyway, as evidenced by today's DFA.
Cards Mistake
4:08
Rewind a year and change, could the Cards have gotten Yelich instead of Ozuna for the same package given?
Steve Adams
4:09
No way. Ozuna had two years of control and wasn't as good a player as Yelich, who was controlled cheaply for a half decade. The package the Brewers gave up was considered much better than the one the Cards surrendered.

And, at the time the Cards acquired Ozuna, the Marlins weren't shopping Yelich as hard. There were like 6 weeks that elapsed between those two deals.
Tribe Time Now
4:10
The tribe has to understand they cant wait until they're 6 games behind the twins to make a move. Friars need an ace (still) Kluber for Reyes, Cordero and the now injured Nix. Who says no?
Steve Adams
4:10
Trading Kluber for a pair of outfielders who aren't clear upgrades over what they have in house and a broken Jacob Nix sounds like an awful deal for Cleveland.
